That's implying the democrats policies don't skew towards wall street and big corporations. They're far more Corporatists than anyone else.

they are NOT more corporatist than the repubs, but the key point is that it is a matter of degree, with both parties in bed with some unpleasant entities. i care less about that aspect of upper echelon party functioning than i do about the fact that at least the dems throw crumbs to the working class [me] whereas the repubs throw us only their garbage.

I'd agree about the neocons but the democrats aren't any better. The healthcare reform that we ended up with would of made Mussolini smile.

politics is only the art of the possible, and what the dems managed to get passed was only in spite of united repub opposition. i am thankful for it just the same as it is much better than the total nothing that i now suffer under.

Unfortunately breaking the corporate domination of US politics is extraordinarily difficult, to say the least. I do think Obama has let the Democratic base down. He shouldn't have reject so-called Canadian style (Canadians have far more choice in choosing their doctor than most Americans do, BTW) or single payer right off the bat - the profit motive is the real problem and his "reform" keeps it intact. Even if we accept it's only a start - he shouldn't be such a killer of expectations.

He picked the orthodox/Wall St. economic advisers - Geithner and Summers - rather than more progressive ones like Krugman, Stiglitz or Reich.

And the Dems' contempt for the base really kept their voters away.

the repelled democratic voters just cut off their collective noses to spite their face - how could they expect things will be better with repubs in control of congress? there is no rhyme nor reason in this result.

They don't. The voter segments that supported Dems from 2008 just didn't turn out. Demoralized, let down by Obama, or just plain apathetic; pick your excuse, but the Dems didn't do enough to win them over and just seemed to take for granted that the voters from 08 would come back. They didn't.
The Independent vote that was, tended to lean towards the Republicans and of course, the Republican base always has high turnout. That's all it took for them to win.

It's good to see most of the idiot Blue Dogs go down - sabotaging one's own team is stupid as in the end the voters judge the teams on their effectiveness and sabotaging the team is bad for that. Idiots, the lot of them. It's a shame they weren't all eliminated.
