Israels attack on Lebanon.

I never said that the average Lebanese does'nt want peace, It's a significant minority that does'nt. It's like a drug dealer moving in across the street from you. If you do nothing about it, you have to live with the drive-by shootings. Ultimately, it's your fault for not turning in the S.O.B. over to the police!
Your analogy is not exactly accurate. I'm not sure that Hezbollah does more bad in Lebanon than good. By all impartial accounts, they provide better community support and services than the Lebanese government does. They are able to stay there because they do a better job caring for their community than the government does.
It would be more like a drug lord that makes sure everybody in his neighborhood gets what they need and gives them better support and protection than the other established support services. However, he may be a menace to the next neighborhood over. You can see why the people in his neighborhood would like him and wouldn't have any incentive to turn him over, since he takes better care of them than the "good people" would. It's why mob/mafia guys would be loved in their own part of town, where they take care of everyone, and those people would not be inclined to rat them out to the authorities.

You made my point for me ... thanks! One part that's wrong though. Hezbollah isn't in power because the do a better job than the Lebanese gov. they simply muscled thier way in and the poeple did nothing to stop them.

That doesn't match with what I have read. What I have read indicated that Hezbollah got power by filling that void. I am also not sure that it makes your point for you. Just because an area may be friendly to someone because they do good work for them does not mean they deserve to be killed for it or be removed at gun point from their homes.

So you're saying German cities should'nt've been bombed and the German people were'nt guilty for their unwavering support of Hitler??

Nope. I was not referring to a nation that had declared war on another nation. Lebanon has not declared war against Israel, Lebanon has not invaded numerous nations (by the time bombs were dropping on Germany they had taken over/invaded multiple nations), and Israel has not declared war against Lebanon. In my mind, you are attempting to compare apples and oranges.

Your missing my point. The people of Southern Lebenon have made a deal with the devil. Hezbollah bribed these people by acting like a quasi-government. Hezbollah DID invade Israel and launch attacks into it. It is the fault of the Lebanese people for accepting the presence of terrorists in their neighborhoods.
Heve you ever read the book "Faust"??

The people, eh? While they probably do get a lot of support, I wouldn't presume that they absolutely meet with 100% approval. Not enough approval and support that it justifies dropping bombs on them, in my mind. Death is a pretty harsh mistake to make and should require a little more proof than your geographical region. Hezbollah is to blame for their actions, but not those who aren't taking up arms for either side.

No. Tell me about it and maybe I will add it to my list. I'm reading some financial investing books currently.

It's about a guy who sells his soul to the devil for only those things in life that are usefull and practical. It's a greek tragedy. Hence the term "Faustian Tragedy" that's what the whoe situation in the middle east is.
