A Dead Man in Deptford by Anthony Burgess
His novel of the life of playwright Christopher Marlowe. He captures the language well, I think, and the allusions of Marlowe's and Shakespeare's writing are fun.

A View of the Harbour by Elizabeth Taylor
I love her writing style, especially using parentheses to reveal characters's thoughts, as they interact.

H.G. Wells - The Island of Doctor Moreau
Rereading this. I bought the series Penguin put out, with great covers by Kate Gibbs (above). I really enjoy Wells' straightforward, essayistic writing style. Plain prose in contrast with his many ideas.
