Every few days some flaming between a few members will break out. Those posts will be removed and threads locked or removed if they seem like they are only going to be used for future conflict.
Thing is, that doesnt remove the issue, or the argument, or the bad feelings in general. It just removes the evidence that would help support one party or another in coming to a resolution, or proving exactly which person was acting out of order. (Or proving they both are, for that matter.) I notice it also makes people draw the wrong conclusion about certain posts.
UserA (on unrelated thread, after previous fight thread is deleted.) : I have this opinion on this thread.
UserB (the other half of the older conflict): you're an almight cockspanner and need to die of cancer to the cheeks
UserC: WTF? All he said was "i have this opinion"... I lack context for this so I'm going to arbitrarily decide that UserB is an a***hole.
Or any combination of the above. What might seem like a "flaming" response to something innoucous could well be merely the latest post in a long and complex falling out of users.
It also makes it hard to use previous threads for reference, and some threads are quite good, even when theyre angry ones, with a lot of good information in them. Also, some threads are quite happy to continue
around the fighting.
