I'm so sorry about your mom. It's scary. {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}
My mom had breast cancer and mastectomy 3 years ago. The surgery, chemo and recovery were awful. But at this point, she's still clear. She's 62 years old and I keep thinking it's inevitable that it's going to come back one of these days.

Statements by Tom!

My week was ok, I handed in the last of
my uni work, the term is over now.

I spent a lot of time hanging around in my
comic shop. The guy who owns had has
some graphic novels printed, and he knows
Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, and Will Eisner!
Do you like their books Ghosthunter?

I liked Alan Moores work, I think it was
Swamp Thing? I may be mistaking the
artist and writer. Please refresh my
memory on his last 15 years of work.

Will Eisner, and "The Spirit" 10¢ covers
are a definite. They were 40's -60's era
10¢, 12¢, and Code-avoiding magazine!
This is what I remember of his Spirit work.
I also think he did "Plasticman", and "Police
comics". These are in the 10¢ era.

Bill Sienkowicz and Moon Knight were a match
in heaven.

I remember by character or artist. So please
throw me some titles, and artists.

Sincerely,
Ghosthunter

Moon Knight? Thanks for the recomendation Ghosty. You need to give me some more ideas for comics to get into.

Yeah , Alan Moore wrote Swamp Thing, he also wrote 2000AD, League of Extrordinary Gentlemen, Watchmen, and tons of other classics.

Thanks for the support and wonderful thoughts for my mom, everybody. Update: it turns out that it *wasn't* recurrent breast cancer this time around - but rather, advanced ovarian cancer. My mom's finally out of the hospital after 2+ weeks, and she's had her first dose of chemo (out of 6). I guess it's just a waiting game, now... :(

I hope your mother's doing okay (all things considered), SINsister.

My week's been long. I've just started the second three-week term of three terms of intensive second-year Spanish. It's nearly midnight, and after that it will be Wednesday. I have a Spanish composition due on Friday, homework due tomorrow and every weekday thereafter, and I'm going to my parents' house Friday evening to do my laundry (and get a homecooked meal... I am a terrible cook :D).

My week has been less quiet than I had hoped it would be - not enough time for afternoon naps, meh. Been mucking out the kitchen mostly - defrosting and scrubbing the evil fridge from hell (took two days in the sun for all the ice to melt), removing a mouse nest that was hidden behind it  , five bin bags full of crap later it looks like a kitchen again....

Other than that its far too hot and sticky, so I've been drinking far too much cider (there goes the weight loss plan) and having a riot in a chat room until the early hours. And I'm still missing Mel. Oh well...

SINsister - best wishes to your mum, and to you of course.

My troubles are insignificant when compared to that, but I need to vent.

I have a new boss. She's a really nice person, but she has a habit of interrupting me every few minutes when I'm busy doing something to ask me a question about something unrelated to the task in hand. Which of course means I have barely got anything done the last few days.

I realise that she's new and trying to learn about what goes on in our organisation, but I wish she would schedule a time with me to discuss any questions she has, rather than keep interrupting what I'm doing. I can't even answer when she does that, since I am focussed on the original task and can't switch topics quickly enough to give an intelligent answer within a timeframe that would appear acceptable. I end up burbling incoherently, only giving half an answer, then kind of blanking her for a minute (during which she does not give me time to think, but keeps talking at me) before coming up with something semi-coherent.

Then when I have made myself look stupid enough already, I usually have to start whatever I was doing beforehand over from the beginning because I forgot where I was up to.

Then when I am back on track (with valuable time lost) she asks something else and it repeats over and over all day, with me getting more and more frustrated and withdrawn.

Tell your boss to leave you alone. Threaten her with a cute little kitten that will make her cry at the sight of its cuteness.
