Oh gosh! Trawling around Wikipedia and the BBC site, I've realised something.

The original Quatermass Experiment was transmitted in the summer of 1953. Only the first two of the six half-hour episodes were recorded. I remember watching it all. I was under five years old. I also remember "snuggling up" to the old "radiogram" to listen to Journey into Space and its sequels. (The "snuggling" was to achieve the volume I wanted.) That also started the same year.

I knew I started young, with SF. I guess I'd forgotten just how young!

I've just explained something else about me. The first LP I ever owned (by several years) was "The Planet Suite", and I've always vaguely wondered why. The opening theme music for Quatermass II explains that one.

Thanks for (somehow) prompting me off down this train of thought.

i think rasmus is autistic hes pro cure and he isnt doing the i have an iq of 370 because im a self dignosed aspie BS

Nothing so sophisticated (or expensive).
I just toyed around with "The Gimp" for a bit... mapping colour channels to obtain roughly linear distribution across the full range. In the end, merely bumping up the contrast and brightness was all that was needed. Just like me - expect it to be difficult, spend time, then discover the trivial solution.
