Russia was progressing before Putin just blew it all!

Just like Zimbabwe was thriving in a relative sense before Mugabe ruined it.

well the thing about the Russian system is why is it so easy for a leader to become a dictator? For example in the US if the president wanted to invade Mexico let's say, and make it part of the US, would it that be that easy and the military would just go along with it because he's the President?

Russia had not moved on Ukraine during the Trump years because Trump had promised Putin he would pull America out of NATO in his second term. Meaning, without American leadership, there would be no opposition to Russian expansionism. Well, Trump lost the election, and so no American withdrawal from NATO. Putin, having his forces at the ready, went for the invasion anyhow.
So, Putin's reason for invading Ukraine during the Trump administration had nothing to do with any fear of Trump. If anything, Trump was sympathetic with Putin, as he had always favored dictators over democracy.

I've asked you for evidence before.
If you, or anyone, can't supply this, your credibility coinage will suffer.

As I recall, I reported John Bolton had made that assertion:

That isn't evidence.
It is speculation.

Also, Trump would be pressuring NATO to pull its weight.
Threatening NATO that the US would leave is like pootin threatening to use nuclear weapons.

No evidence, no validation.
The fact remains, he didn't pull out of NATO, and that's the fact, Jack. 8)

I don't think you have a good handle on politics? ;)

I do have a good handle on politics. While more often than not, I disliked John Bolton, but I always recognized him as an honest, truthful man. He was in a perfect position to observe Trump's actual reasons for wanting to pull out of NATO.
Trump's claim that he had only wanted to make Europe pay their fair share was nothing but a pretext to withdraw American membership. His hostility to our allies, while sucking up to Putin, should raise even your eyebrows.

Well it was said before that taking out Putin and his cabinet would be a bad idea, but I wonder can he be reasoned with or bought off at a reasonable price? It seems to me that people just don't want to believe that a good defense us a strong offense, and in war everyone only wants to defend if they don't risk offending.

Attempts of reasoning with Putin have been made for the last 22 years.
Attempts of buying him, likely too.
We see the results.

Ok so at this point of him starting war and he cannot be reasoned with why doesn't NATO assassinate him and his co-conspirators then?

We supposedly haven't been conducting assassinations since the Church Committee uncovered how the CIA had carried out murder and attempted murder, often hiring organized crime to do the act (The CIA-Mafia plots to kill Castro - it was like Wiley Coyote trying to get the Road Runner). I'm sure it still happens , but to far less high profile targets.

It would have happened had Trump won a second term. That's why Putin had waited to invade Ukraine, expecting another Trump victory. As it's the reason why Putin is invading Ukraine now, it certainly matters.
Again, John Bolton, I believe, is a reliable source.
Again, doesn't Trump's subservient relations with Putin make you wonder?

Trump calls him "smart."

Putin really doesn't look too "bright" right at this moment.....
