 jumped in the tub with me...... :?

As I was running my bath my cat jumped on my back while I was leaning over. He does this a lot whenever I'm bent over like I'm a stepping stone.

Anyway he just sat there for a while and then jumped right into the tub and started playing with the running faucet while the tub was up to his legs!! !

Now normally he'll play with the faucet in the kitchen but I've never seen him go at it in the tub.

Is this normal for cats?

Should I be worried?

Can cats swim?

you should rejoyce!! !

cats swim very well, they just dislike water cus it takes them forever to dry (thick fine fur)

they swim well, dont worry, and enjoy a water-loving rarity! :D

my cat hates bathing, we tried when she was little, cus we didnt really know we didnt have to :I
(she clawed us to hell btw)
but later on shes more tolerant to water, running outside in the norwegian sideways-rain and stuff

one time my brother was in the shower, she was standing outside meowing (shes overly social) and wanted to come inside. he thought why-not-ish, let her in, and she sat in the showerwater for a moment or two, before she had enough and ran back out :D

My old cat used to love to sit on the edge of the tub if i was taking a bath and on several occasions slipped in. It was amusing except the whole part of him scrambling to get out because being soaking wet in a slippery tub of water he obviously had no footing to jump out, until his paws and claws would eventually find footing on my naked skin. When he would fall in it was a scramble to try and pick him up and out before getting scratched to hell in his panic. But he would always come back.

He was a weird cat and always had to be by my side, even in the bathroom, if I was showering he'd sit on the toilet seat just staring at me.

I had a cat that liked water. He wasn't a van, though; just an orange tiger striped domestic. He liked to lay in the bathroom wash basin, and drink water from the tap. If you turned the water on, he would act as though he were enjoying it. Using a squirt bottle on him for discipline didn't work, because he would stand still so the water could hit him! He also dove into my bathwater a few times, but I took him out quickly, because he would panic and I feared getting scratched.

I have a Very recent new addition to the family, a really cool pure white cat has adopted me and my better half, (a black Lab)

When we go to the river, the cat will follow me around just like the Lab, although it will lay on the bank with it's lower half in the water (pics coming soon)

I have never seen a cat take to a dog and my Lab too, like this one has, she follows us around like a wet puppy, the coolest thing is, walking around with a Black Lab and a White Cat, both of which are Very protect of each other, and me.

I've had the Lab for 7+ years, the Cat for 7+ days, but the Cat will go fetch, just to spite the dog, who will graciously follow, to make sure the stick comes back to where it belongs, and it does.

I have never seen a Cat enjoy the water so much...it's a cool thing.

i've had cats who liked to play with the water coming out of the tap, but not ones who liked to swim. the black cat i have now (one of two cats) has weird/watery grooming habits, though. he grooms himself and his sister until their fur is wet and spiky. it's funny to see them afterwards.

I don't know if my cat particularly likes being in the water, but if you're in the tub or washing dishes, he begs for attention and totally loves it when you pet him with wet hands. I guess it makes him feel like he's getting a great big tongue bath.

sometimes if im allone in the house, at night, and i hafta go take a dump, ill just push the door, not shut it, and the cat may come inside, and immediately detect me in the bathroom, come inside meowing and then try to get up on my lap, while im pooping :I

i push her down, and she simply sits there, purring in my stench, looking at me :I

Cats that swim are awesome! I can remember the one and only time we ever tried to give George a bath.... He sure could move fast for such a large, and strong, and razor sharp claw having cat....

No, I don't think you need to be worried. There are some cats that can tolerate water more than others, I think it's cool for a cat to go in the bath.

I was going to say....he has an odd body structure somewhat close to a turkish van. I always give him the nickname Cheshire because he's got that grin and is constantly into everything.

I'd luv to get a video of it...unfortunately I don't have a web cam right now. So that'll have to wait I guess..

Today I put a little water in the tub and he loved it!!
My other cat watched him with a scowl like......"What an idiot!"

I'm thinking about buying him a kiddy pool...

Ha,ha, I had a cat that watched TV with me. It cracked me up when she looked concerned at the exciting parts.
