What is intimacy? The dictionary says "A feeling of being intimate and belonging together" but how do people know when they are being intimate? What is it like to be intimate? How do you know what is intimate?

Please describe times when you were being intimate?

Intimate-Marked by close acquaintance, association, or familiarity. It's a feeling of closeness you have with another person. Someone that you truly have a bond with.

Watch out for the varied meanings.
It can mean, (along with "love") simply four bare legs in a bed: "getting intimate."

It is from the latin for "inmost" so speaks of the state of closeness, especially where because of that there are no hidden of secrets, no knowledge unknown. No masks.

A very few people I've shared the dark nooks and crannies of my mind with. Usually only for a short while. That's intimate. The core me.

Oddly, going to bed with someone can avoid that sort of intimacy, rather that than drop the masks, and face the things that can't be shown or said.

I often find I want intimacy but not at the same time as others.

I think intimacy is about mutual understanding.

Emotional or physical intimacy? Physical would be sex, emotional would be a deep mental connection. I haven't felt either, so details are beyond me.

it's beyond me. sometimes i think i'll never know what it's like to be emotionally intimate.
