Help me identify this book, please!

I remember as a child in my early teens reading this book full of poetry and ink drawings. There was no color, just ink drawings. The artwork had a grungy look to it, almost as if the artist drew really fast and splashes of ink would land on the paper. The poetry was woven into the artwork so that each page had a bit of poetry which the artwork complimented. I think the poet was named "Robert"? Can someone please help me?

hmm. the first thing that popped into my head was the children's book by Maya Angelou using Jean-Paul Basquiat's artwork as illustration. but that was in color. the artwork is very raw, vivid, though. intentionally rough-looking.

Ah yes, Shel Silverstein ! ! An unsung genius. Wrote "Sarah Cynthis Slyvia Stout Would not Tke The Garbade Out"

I remember reading his books as a child. Really creative and weird to say the least, but some great poetry.

Everybody's got one, but Stacy Jones got two - Shel Silverstien..;) yeah, he was a cartoonist as well.

That's who I was gonna suggest when I read your post. I loved his books when I was younger.

He couldn't be Ralph Steadman who did on alot of Hunter S Thompson's books
