I am looking to connect my xbox 360 to my DVI monitor. I am looking for a cable that converts from the component video, the one where it is the three plugs on the end of the connection for the video and two more for audio, i don't need anything for the audio, just to convert that connection to DVI for my monitor.

Unfortunately this can't be done in an easy way. Your monitor has to be able to decode component-signal for this to be done.
However, if you can use your 360 with HDMI, it makes things alot easier.

Then its simply buying a HDMI -> DVI converter.
Make sure your monitor is able to show the screen-resolution (720i/p or 1080 i/p), refer to your manual for supported resolutions, or check at the internet.

Should also mention the monitor also uses vga, but id prefer the dvi, and I want it for use with more than just my 360, so i want something that takes the component input and converts it to a dvi or vga output. All I am seeing though has a male connection on the component end and I need a female connection on that end.

You would probably need a converter box of some sort, given that your XBOX output is in HD.
This can be a tricky one...

You're sure you can't go with HDMI for your XBOX?

Oh... I see... Only XBOX 360 Premium have HDMI. (Shame on you Microsoft!)

If I want it to work for my other devices, which are all digital output, no.

I found one cable, but the problem is it is a male connection, and then id need a female to female connector to go between them for the component video, I'll try looking for one of those.

Remember to refer to your monitor-manual, to make sure it's capable of displaying component video.
If it isn't you'd be stuck with a useless cable, and have to buy a converter box. (Those have to exist)

Now I know that for another time. Can you post a link to one, so I can see it?

"Ultima HDTV Video Cables are designed for satellite TV, HDTV, component RGB video, Y/Pb/Pr video and most LCD projectors. These cables are not compatible with computer monitor ports or Y/Cr/Cb video. Note: Your video source must provide a YPbPr component video signal from the HD15 port to use this cable."

The cable is not for using YPbPr/Component input from a device to a monitor. It's only the other way around...

Sorry...

EDIT: From computer to HDTV/Projector/Other monitor using YPbPr.
