I was in kindergarden when the challenger blew up. I didn't see it happen, I was watching sesame street when it happened. Back then PBS didn't interupt programming for breaking news.

My teacher was in a really bad funk that day at school. She told my class that people had died, but in my limited capacity for social understanding back then, all of that went over my head.

I remember that day watch what happen to the space shuttle as I watched blow up before My eyes. To Me though I was not in shock it just happened. Though sad I move on from that day of tragedy. It was a sorrow that it took so long to get the next space shuttle up and running. Just like latest shuttle tragedy too.

On any other major network, they would break in, so if you were watching "The Price is Right," or sitcom reruns, you were out of luck.

oh, I was in the 3rd grade and our teacher got us out of lunch in tears and told us what was happening. We watched it on the news rather than have recess. At the time I wanted to be an astronaut, and even after that I still did.....

I was born a little over a week afterward; obviously I don't remember it. Didn't Punky Brewster do an episode devoted to it, though? (random)

I know that Amanda Bynes did a sketch pertained to it on her own show. They decided not to air that most recently because it was the anniversary.
