So I finally found a job...er, actually my dad found one for me. We are both working at the same place at a Halloween store. Today was very grueling because we had to unload the truck full of all this wood for the shelves and boxes with random stuff in it. Today was the first day it opened up, but ill be layed off after Halloween since its a seasonal store. Anyway, we have one of the most random group of employees, in my opinion. We have the woman in her late fifties that is nice, but none of us really know much of her personality. We also have the college-age party girl who acts like shes still in high school and the college-age layed back guy who doesnt seem to work very hard. Then there is my dad and I who are clearly breaking the rules in the handbook that say no blood reletives, but the manager apparently doesnt care. I saved the best for last, though. Out of all types of people I absolutely DONT want to work with...we get none other than the macho, alpha male, womanizer type of guy.

He wears a biker-looking type of head scarf, tattoos, and has large arm muscles. Not a big deal, since I try not to let first impressions get to me. The first time I met him, he seemed pretty easy to get along with. He shook my hand and introduced himself. Not half an hour into it and hes already cracking jokes that he seemingly thinks are hilarious (he has a very loud, annoying laugh), things that just go completely over my head are arent funny whatsoever (except the time he was holding on to the bottom of the cart thingy as party girl was trying to pull it, thinking it was just really heavy; that was actually kind of funny). He seems to be occupied far too much with trying to hook me up with party girl. Shes defenatly not my type so im not even concidering it. Plus, thats against regulations. Hes not really harassing me, its more like hes cracking a few jokes here and there towards me. No where near the level of harassment I went through in school though. Its more like the annoying type of harassment, not the insulting and anger inducing type. He does this with everyone though, so I think hes the type of alpha male that likes to see where his social position is when in a group. He pushes people just a little bit to see how they will react. This is really bad for me, since all I do is chuckle a little bit and smile and act kind of timid and somewhat submissive around him. Bad, bad idea. As I get used to him, ill be more comfortable with acting cold and giving off that "back off, Jack" type of feeling. Im always timid and shy around people im not used to. I try to stay away from him, but thats impossible sometimes. Since he acts really obnoxious with everyone and not just me, I have a feeling someone will complain to the manager if he keeps it up or gets worse. I still have to discuss him with my dad and see what he thinks.

So all and all, my first day was pretty bad. Strangly, im not going to get all stressed and worried about it though. Maybe it was all the manual labor that is keeping my anxiety at bay, although I was starting to feel it half way through the day. A job will be good for me though, because I need to get out of my room and start making money. Also, I need to get more used to being around people. Who knows, maybe it wont be so bad after we get everything set up and are open for business. The alpha male is going to make this job interesting though. Bad interesting, not good interesting. I mean, not only have I had one of my friends who I really dont like all that much live with me for the past month due to legal issues (long story), but I also have an obnoxious macho guy as a co-worker. My life is absolutely wonderful. -_- Discuss my misfortune.
