I can't.

And how do people know where to put their hands, where the key-ring or ball will arrive? 8O Please someone tell me!

Sometimes. It depends on my aim and the throw from the person. I know I can catch a ball in a mitt because I've done it. I did softball.

It has to do with coordination, they just aim for the item and catch it. Sometimes they also miss because they don't grip it right away and sometimes the item bounces from their hand if they try and catch it with one hand or the person was just a poor thrower. They, including me, don't really think about how far to reach our hand.

I never can. That's why I can't play most if not all sports.

The trick I learned is to 'tunnel in' on the object. Block out other information for a moment, and follow it all the way into your hands. And practice, of course. "Don't wear the crown. Be the crown".

I'm not brilliant at catching but bizarrely I can catch things that I accidentally drop by myself frequently before they hit the ground and also can juggle with 3 balls.

It was funny because I learnt to juggle at work and was the most adamant person that I wouldn't be able to do it because I can barely catch and in the end was the only one who learned! Maybe it was determination.

I think it's more difficult to catch off other people becuase you have to somehow anticipate their throw.

I can catch pretty well and I was a relatively good fielder when I played cricket. The funny thing is though that I never watch the ball right into my hands, which is regarded as the optimum way to catch. I catch more on instinct than anything else. I just put my hands at a level I feel the ball will come, and most times, it will stick.

It is about a 50/50 shot for me.

I have always loved baseball, but catching was my one weak point.

I once missed catching a baseball twice when a major league ball player threw it to me. I think though that had to do with being nervous that a friggen major leaguer was tossing me a ball though. I managed to throw it fairly well thankfully. I also missed hitting of a tee... TWICE. Again, a huge camera filming me, a major league player watching as well as thirty women makes me nervous.

Also, when it comes to baseball, I nearly always catch the ball, but I juts can't hold to it.

It always bounces off the tips of my fingers. It's like I close my hand a second too soon. My coordination sucks.

I can do it if I force everything else out of my head, and hyperfocus.

I played volleyball in junior high and wasnt too bad.I can catch a football, sometimes a baseball...and I can hit a badmington birdie half the time and serve it.I am average when it comes to the game of badmington.Im also not too bad at shooting hoops and rebounding the basketball and catching a basketball.

I catch thrown objects very well. I throw objects very accurately.

I can't hit / bat / bash / strike at small objects in motion (balls, birdies, whatever) at all.

Yep, I played baseball three years as an outfielder, and made some good catches and fielding plays too... (a few game saving.)
I think this just has to do with a very fast response time with laser focus on the ball , with -spatial ability-, as apparently I'm spared in this common autistic disabling feature .
(Once , I cought a falling cup from the table top in mid- air ,from the top in a downward motion, as I snatched it in free fall ;with no spillage.)

Just some facts here.

I can most of the time if it's lobbed gently and I use both hands but if it's moving even at the speed of a slow overhand pitch I can't see it anymore and have to guess at its trajectory.

I have caught things before, but I couldn't tell you my success rate. I will say that I am usually shocked when I do manage to catch something.

I'm pretty good at catching stuff, but I just figured that it came from so much video gaming helping out hand-eye coordination.

In the past I've been likened to a Jedi, and I couldn't help laughing at the guy who said it which didn't go down well, but at other times I'm simply clumsy as f8ck no doubt. Constantly spilling and breaking stuff, walking into doorjams etc but when I'm not distracted I'm a ninja lol I'm often distracted though.
