My first word was something like "Dada" when my dad used to walk into the room, but very shortly after, there was a time when my mom took me to a department store and I was sitting in the cart and my mom pulled out her wallet to pay and I said "Credit Card"

the first word I ever spoke while reading it off of a page in a school textbook [my older sister's textbook as I was 4] was "just."

Gee, I really don't remember. I was so young back then.

I'm pretty sure I developed speech pretty normally, though.

My first word:
"Nei" (no)

My second word:
"Bril", which is a mix of onomatopoeia for driving and 'bil' (car)

Apparently my first sentence (or the first one recorded by my mother) was:
"Ta'n a"
a colloquial form for "ta den da" which means "take it"

I like the way Norwegian sounds. I find it pleasant to listen to. At least from what I've seen on YouTube.

Thanks, Yigeren, that's nice to hear :) I wonder what it sounds like to foreigners?

To me it sounds similar to most Germanic languages, but is not harsh-sounding. It has a musical quality to it. And many words seem similar enough to English that it almost feels as though I should be able to understand it, even though I can't. I like the r sounds, and the complicated way the consonants are put together. A language I'd like to learn someday, but probably wouldn't have the time.

Thanks! It's really interesting to see it described by a non-native speaker, as that is a way I am unable to see it. I'm sorry I can't return the favor; I've heard English on TV since I was 6, and I don't remember having any particular reaction to it.

I'm not sure what my first words were, since I used animal noises and other sounds instead of words, but my first phrase was 'I'm pouring milk, Mum!' at around 3 years.

I don't really remember, and I don't think my family does either, but my Mum says I used to like saying my name a lot and refer to myself in the third person and copy any phrases that were said to me (Which lead to me being diagnosed), so I'm guessing that my first word, or one of my first words, was my own name. I'm not sure how old I was when I started talking, but it was definitely before I was 3 because I remember doing stuff that involved talking when I was 3.

I loved making kitty sounds. :)
