Three of my threads were deleted last month.


the first one was: ""Wealthy men give women more orgasms" , it was linked to a scientific journal , it was deleted after a couple of days.
It was "offensive" to women maybe? probably only by the simple-minded.

So I made two other threads linked to other scientific studies which might be viewed as "offensive to men" by the simple minds.

The first was: "Men see half naked women as 'objects', scientists claim"

and the second was : ""Science: Attractive Women Make Men Stupid".


All threads had no content in the OP except a link to the study.

The threads lasted for a while till I asked for an explanation why the first one was deleted while the two other remained, the response was deleting them all.


Maybe we should delete all the threads that sound 'offensive' to religious people then ? or deleting all the threads that sound 'offensive' to liberals? What about to delete threads that sound offensive to NTs?

This is so ridiculous.

this thread is massively offensive and should be removed.

Often when a new thread is created with no content except for an external link, especially when the link appears sexual in nature, it can be confused by an admin as spam. Based on what you've said, I'm gonna guess nobody was offended by these posts, they just looked so much like spam that it was assumed that they were.

^^ not possible, i am an old member here and there were pages of ongoing discussions happening in those threads.

you signed up to abide by the rules of WrongPlanet.net when you registered, LPP. They were the same then as they are now, nothing has changed.

You know what, I'm probably going to get in trouble for this, but that's not much of a response. LPP asked a legitimate question, and the answer is approximately, "Because I can." I've seen multiple posts by moderators claiming that they can't do their jobs without input by the community, which is a valid point. But if you want people to share information with you, you should share it with them. Quoting rules (that in this case isn't even completely cut and dry - you're not an owner of the site, and Alex hasn't been around for quite a while, as far as I know) without an explanation is an easy way out. This isn't a question that's asked a thousand times (like where's the men's forum, how do I change my username, why can't I have two accounts, etc); it's an individual one.

Do you owe anyone an explanation? No. But truth be told, I wonder why you bothered to respond.

Seconded. Prince's question was legit, and while you do reserve the right to delete any thread, the general consensus here on WP (and the reason we trust mods in the first place) is that you will exercise this right only if threads are spam, explicit, or intentionally inflammatory. I dont see how a scientific study, even on a touchy subject like sex, qualifies as the above. What is even more troubling is that similar threads were deleted only after the OP drew attention to the first deletion, which sounds to me like someone was trying to get back at him for being a whistle blower.

Given, you have the right to delete any thread you wish, but to abuse this power would constitute a betrayal of trust on your part. WP members trust that mods will only use their power in a situation in which a thread is seen as offensive or spam. To do so otherwise would cause members to doubt their ability to speak freely here, and would most likely result in people being driven away. Alex intended this site for us to talk about issues that concern without having to worry about discrimination, whether from our beliefs or diagnosis or other. I seriously doubt he would approve of moderators deleting threads at random.

But then again, I am neither a moderator nor an admin of this site, and these views are just how I feel mod power should be used, not how it is used in reality. And I'm not trying to discredit the mods in any way, just politely reminding them that with power, comes responsibility.

I can't reveal what discussions by PM that LPP and I have had over those same threads. So think what you want of me, I will not betray the confidences of a member's words to a moderator in private. I would do the same for you, too.

Hey, we know that. We're not accusing you of anything, just expressing some concerns. At any rate, I'm going to back out of this now, this is obviously between Prince and the mods, and I dont like prying into people's business.

I know the mods have been under fire a lot recently for apparent misuse of power, but I still support them because they are the control rods that cool the fission reaction that is WP - or any public board, for that matter. Without them, meltdown.

You either delete them all or reactivate the dead thread, deleting one while leaving the others is hypocritical in my opinion (however , I think this political correctness policy is ridiculous, deleting any such study is ridiculous).

That was like:
Police: hey boss, why releasing one of the thieves and not all of them?
Officer: Ok , release them all

Not being involved in the threads being addressed, I can only comment objectively:

Those threads are not only offensive to males, as you have suggested.
Sexist and other forms of attack or denigration are not permitted under site rules.
Threads without content or commentary do appear to be spam - regardless of the tenure of the member posting.

And under WP's Terms of Service, it is expected that PMs are to be read by the sender and recipient only and are not generally intended for publication.

But they had a small content, I can't recall how much, but they were like one sentence or two words like: interesting,no? Plus there were clean ongoing discussions in these threads when they were deleted..

I made DOZENS of such threads before and they were all linked to scientific/political articles, none of them were deleted.


Maku and sinbodly, you are out of excuses, I fear.

LPP - I've made no excuses, and I don't find that SB has either. There are rules agreed to when one signs up for an account here, including sexist and/or racist language and posts that are made with the intent of provoking other members; that isn't an excuse, but a fact of the matter. I've made a few observations regarding your comments on the situation - no excuses given, and I stated in advance that these were objective observations as a non-involved party. You seem to have the rationale that since no action was taken in one instance, that no action should be taken on any similar occasion... while I respect that you have an opinion, it isn't applicable to this situation. If you have issues, I invite you to contact one or more of the moderators privately to discuss your concerns rather than continue with attempts to bully others to your point of view.

Objectively speaking, there were no sexist languages in the OPs of these threads nor in the articles that were linked to.

your conclusions that somehow it was removed as politically incorrect and sexist were in error from the very beginning, LPP. Later, it was your demand that I do one or the other was the issue.



The moderators are not subject to your demands nor your manipulative tactics, nor are they going to be bullied, no matter how old of a member you are. Your unilateral decision to reveal a private PM without asking the other party confirms your lack of respect accompanied by a feeling of intense dislike (i.e. contempt).

If WrongPlanet.net does not meet your needs perhaps you would like to make other arrangements?
