Having to decide between SG1 and SGA, I'd probably side with SG1. But SGU has only had about 3 episodes... I think it's way to early to tell.

I'm giving it a chance, but the major question I have is how a ship 100,000+ years old that has hardly any working systems manages to keep jumping to and fro in FTL drive when one would think that system is the most prone to totally shut down from lack of maintenance?

At least the have an easy exit to the show if it folds. Either they find a suitably habitable planet of another "Atlantis" type ancient city/ship on one of the planets to live and someday find a way home or they find a way to enter the ship's NAV computer and tell it to return to Earth.

ok ill open with i am a stargate fanboy. i have all 10 seasons of sg1 and seasons 2,3,4 of atlantis that i bought and paid for. not torrents!! i have all the movies and i even got the children of the gods on dvd with the new fx and s**t. i love the series and i am liking the new show BUT it looks a lot like someone in stargate watches bsg and said "Hey, we can rip that off!!" they are on a ship o a really long journey the ship is old and ppl are dyin. i hate to say it but i think the idea well bight be drying up on the show.

I didn't like SG1 when it first started, but as the series progressed so did its
stories and humor, something that SGA had some never quite accomplished
unfortunately. What peaves me is Space Chanel never ran a second airing
of the premier movie for SGU, so I have no idea who the characters are or
what the show is about, I only have the impression that its like lost in space
so its the same old premise only they have stargates.

I had a lot of my friends ask what song is the one at the end of part 2. For any one wondering: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-49G3jJP5Q

I dunno why exactly, but I can't seem to get into SGU. I am interested in the idea of more Stargate, but to me it seems like SGU is a obvious attempt to milk the cash cow of the Stargate name.

I do have a question though. How are they going to have other beings around if the ship keeps jumping from galaxy to galaxy?
Just following around the group is gonna get boring. SG1 had the Tok'ra, Jaffa, and slews of reoccurring characters. If the ship only stops for 12 hours every FTL stop, how are there gonna be reoccurring characters that aren't already on the ship.

Perhaps that will change with more episodes but atm i see it as very dry.

I enjoyed SG-1 when I would watch it but I was so confused because i never saw it from the beginning and so i could not keep up with who was who and all of the different species and if the species who were constantly on there were the good guys or the bad guys.

Anyways, I'm starting to watch SG-Universe because maybe this would give me a chance to watch a stargate series and actually be able to follow it and by watching this one, maybe I can pick up on some of those species from SG-1 and maybe remember certain things and understand that series a little bit more. I don't know.

I found this also, although conversely to other shows, where this would put me off, this dragged me into watching it whenever it was on now and again.

I'm liking the Universe show so far. Haven't seen today's episode though.

SG1 was pretty good, especially for the start of a series.

Atlantis, I've only seen a few episodes. Didn't appeal to me. Seemed a lot like DS9 though.

A complete catastrophe thus far. I really hope they throw that emo chick out an airlock so we won't have to be subjected to any more emotional outbursts from a character that hasn't been defined yet. It's a double win: We won't get to hear her whining, and there will be more time for actual, you know, stargate-content in 5-minute intervals that her bad acting normally fills. Same goes for the guy who sees his father in the desert - We don't know the characters' personalities yet, stop throwing their personal tragedies in our faces for at least the duration of the first season!

Here's my wish list for the next episodes:
- No more stupid dialogue, tears, or past traumas, please. The series just started.
- Get rid of the comic-relief gamer dude. His sole purpose is to keep humor in the series, which is impossible because you're emulating Battlestar Galactica.
- Please get better.

every one says that universe is just like "ST voyager" with "battle star galactica" and "the last star fighter" together

I think they are trying to develop the characters rapidly because this is the "why wont the microwave cook faster!! !" generation.

Hey, I like the mid 20's overweight partially college educated unemployed gamer dude.

As time goes by, usually shows do get better, unless they happen to be Star Trek Enterprise.
