Aspie for President
Aspie for President
If you were the president of the United States of America what would you do?
1. List 3-10 things you would do for your presidency as Commander and Chief of the United States.
2. Please no longer then 8 sentences a piece and no less then 1 complete sentence for each item in the list.
3. After a time has past, I will pick the serious ones that are not intended to be humor or goofy and I will post in this section for others to vote. Whoever wins will pick one other writer that replied as his or her favorite after winning the poll. That means no bickering, that way you might be picked if you do not win.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1) Nuke Iran and North Korea, Finish the War on Terror.
2) Cut military spending, appropriate most of the existing spending towards special operations, nuclear weapons (mostly submarines and bombers), aircraft carriers, and air superiority. Intelligence would maintain a high budget for national security purposes.
3) Take the money from the military cuts, gut the funding of the EPA and BATF, and cut all social service budgets and the Department of the Interior budget again to pay off some of the national debt to maintain economic security.
4) a)Get the Federal Firearms act of 1986 and the Arms control act of 1934, and leglize the unregulated sale, posession, and transfer, and concealed carry of any type of firearms that fires a projectile 50mm or smaller (explosive projectiles included) as a constitutional right. b) Make new legislation protecting energy weapons under the constitution.
5) Subsidize manufacturing industries that have at least 2/3 of their production in the us and pay union wages to the workers on the factory floor. Also, spend a moderate ammount of money in the defense and other industries to keep employment up in good paying jobs, which creates taxes to eventually put money back into social services. Use the manufacuring to give the third world countries manufacturing equipment instead of food, money, and medicine so they stop begging for a hand out like bums in front of a liquor store.
6) Put a 1 cent tax on the transaction of each individual share of stock when both selling and receiving, to be paid by each party involved. Once again, to help pay off debt and fund social services and eventually the military again.
7) After the War on Terror, move most ground troops out of Europe (leaving the bases active in case needed) and move them to the US borders, air, and seaports to stop illegal immigration and smuggling by deadly force need be.
8) Streamline the appeals process for death row inmates by having the judes review cases in groups and reduce crime and prison populations by using the death penalty for more offenses like all first and most second degree murders (including dui/dwi related), sex crimes, drug trafficing and/or dealing, promotion of gang activity, raqueteering, and three strike offenders. Also, Id give the States the right to delgate the executions to the Counties the offense occured in to make a puclic example of them and free up the State death row for counties that wouldn't do it themselves. Last of all, i'd do away with that pathetic lethal injection method and use something that was more fitting of the crimes, like a firing squad, hanging, or beheading, and alow States to create a program for citizens to serve on execution duty rather than wait around on jury duty to help handle the number of executions in order to prevent any adverse psychological effects on the law enforcment.
1. Bring back all military forces from around the world, except for those needed to protect existing US government assets.
2. Other than diplomatic outposts (embassies, consulates, etc), strive to sell off all government property in other nations (essentially any military bases in other countries).
3. Make it known that the military will not be sent into any other nation on the planet without a declaration of war from Congress (the only exclusion being the staging of forces in one nation to then invade another that war has been declared upon).
4. Veto any tax increases, even if they are "cost of inflation" or "cost of living" increases.
5. Veto any continuation of the "War on Drugs" and actively campaign against it.
6. Strive to do away with the concept of payroll withholdings, so that any taxes paid are paid at the end of the year in one lump sum. This will serve to keep government spending in check because money won't be rolling in every week and people will be forced to see just how much they are being forced to pay.
7. Veto any law that attempts to prevent consenting adults from doing anything that would not deprive non-consenting adults, or any minors, of their rights.
8. To an extent that I would have the power to do so, I would fire any government employee who has engaged in questionable ethical practices. If I can't fire the person who did it, I would fire the first person I could going up the hierarchy. I would no longer tolerate the abuse of power that is rampant with government employees and agencies.
9. Create an official "Made in the USA" program where any business that keeps 100% of their employees (and all of their contracts) in the US will be endorsed as a "100% American Business" and listed on the President's website. Try to push through a tax deduction for money spent conducting business with these entities, as an incentive for businesses and consumers to choose the American Business instead of the importer and offshorer. I don't have a problem being nationalistic. It's important to me that our money stay in our own economy so that we can all do well. I don't care whether people in China or India do well, because I don't live there.
10. Attempt to reduce the cost of first class stamps to 22 cents, at least, along with a prohibition on the USPS spending any money on marketing/promotion. The days of stamp increases while making commercials and sponsoring biking teams would be over. If the USPS does not want to go down to 22 cents, strive to make it legal for others to compete in the first class mail market (currently USPS is protected from competition).
Ill tell you when it gets closer to 2020 but Tek Im curious to know if your first plan includes taking everything out of South Korea, also curious what your logic is here I would think it is neccessary to have military bases in other regions so we can act quickly if the need arises.

I don't think it is our job to have military forces around the world. We could save a lot of money by keeping them here, since I believe they should be for our defense rather than as part of an ever more invasive foreign policy. I would prefer to pull out of South Korea, but if they are footing 100% of the bill, I might just leave them there. I'm willing to say that the same policy could apply to any other nation. If they want to pay 100% of the expenses related to keeping military forces there, then I will do it. If any of this burden is passed onto US taxpayers, then it is a no-go.

So who cares if Israel is nuked or South Korea (a major trading partner) is invaded. Also how much greater is the cost of keeping them there then the cost of keeping them here, either way we are paying for the soldier and his family to live pretty much, its not like we send reservists to Korea (at least not typically.)

Those thinking about responding take your time. Write something up, you do not need to think you will win. Just participate and perhaps you will or not. This is really a good example of Aspie minds as they say.
Take your time, it will be a week or so before I put up the official vote.
If you need to change something just edit your post, you can do it anytime.
Good luck,
Nathan
If I were president. Hmm...... What would I do? Meh, I will just make up things as I go along.
1. I would start paying off the deficit through whatever fund raising technique necessary. This would probably be through some form of taxes but it is better to hurt the economy a little now rather than have it disintegrate due to massive national debt.
2. I would promote scientific research through providing grants for research and things like that. I would also loosen restrictions on scientific research giving stem-cell research a relatively free hand along with genetic research and things like this.
3. I would reform the education system by allowing students and parents more freedom to choose their school and would try to loosen regulations on things such as teacher's salaries and such. Ultimately the goal of this is to allow the education system to have some capitalist reforms to be similar to the American university system. Also there would be reforms to the curriculum by making math, science, technology, and business courses more important as the united states needs more scientists(math and science) and we need education that has practical purposes(technology and business).
4. I would promote higher education in science/engineering through scholarship and would also promote the GI bill as a practical method for people to get their college education and would try to make sure the GI bill is a good deal. In the interests of maintaining the United States's position as a superpower we need to have a strong support of science in order to maintain our technological edge and we need a strong military to give our bark some bite.
5. I would try to reform social security through things such as privatization. Privatizing social security allows individuals to have more control over their destiny, it allows businesses to thrive by giving them investments which stimulate the economy and stimulate economic growth. Social security may even be something that is removed in order to reduce tax burdens and allow individuals even more control over their destiny. The united states was formed from rugged individualism and our strength is that of allowing individuals the ability to rise or fall based on their merits.
6. I would try to reduce or remove minimum wage due to the fact that business agreements are largely between the business and the employee. If a person is willing to work for less than our current minimum wage then it should be allowed. Let the market deal with wages because through the competition for limited resources and requirements imposed by employees wanting money the companies employing workers will have to set a fair wage in order to have employees and keep running.
7. I would reform prisons by either trying to reform the death penalty or remove it due to how it is currently inefficient compared to life imprisonment and I would also try to make prisons more self-sufficient by using prisoners as cheap labor. This would decrease tax burden due to prisons and increase the GDP of the United States.
8. I would support many initiatives to decrease reliance on foreign oil, this includes the afforementioned research grants which will be used to research non-fossil fuels and improve fuel efficiency in vehicles. I will support increasing regulations for emissions and for making sure that vehicles use fuel efficiently both because oil is a valuable resource and because the middle east is our source of oil and our source of misery.

I don't care if they are invaded. If people in South Korea want/need our products, they will probably still want/need them even if the government changes. We've been sitting over there maintaining a cease-fire for 50 years. It's time to resolve the matter one way or another.

if I were president... wow.... ok here goes.... (be kind yall)
1) sort out the health care foolishness that is costing our people millions and leaving our people uninsured. capping and limiting some medical malpractice cases is a start. changing patton laws on meds to shorten the time they have to wait to be a generic and limit the number of times the paton can be renewed inorder to keep the generics out. Inother words, if "pill A" is labled for the treatment of XYZ and suddenly "discover" that it will also treat JKL that shouldnt make it elegible for a paten renewal. Also, if a insurance company covers viagra they WILL cover birth control. OH and the "we dont cover weight loss" crap. If they dont then they cant charge more for coverage for the overweight. Same for smoking, etc.
2) better benifits for our armed service members and their families. Better benifit protection for veterins and those wounded in "conflict"
3) Reform the welfare system so that it encourages and promotes finding jobs not encourages taking in the check every month. Make incentives and programs that help those that cant live on a low wage job but can on welfare.
4) cap federally funded university tuition increases and add more grant programs for higher education
5) HAND FEMA BACK to the US fire administration not HOMELAND sec. where it belongs. There were fewer scandles and less waste when the USFA ran it
6) Offer incentives for farmers that grow or produce organic products and end the "i dont plant tobacco so I get funds" crap.
7) Make one standardized test for ALL schools to compare by nation wide. Make the standards a national thing not state to state so we can accually compare results with out having to first analize each testing sequence. GRANDFATHER it in so that people arent shocked by it.
More to follow....

as promised, the "more that follows".....
Create tax incentives for companies that strive to compete with the overseas competition not move over seas.
9) provide for more historical land preservation (yes battle fields too)
10) Provide tax breaks for companies that make, buy and sell american products in majority to products made over seas
11) END all tax breaks for oil companies. Peroid. Provide other incnetives for oil companies to keep prices down.
12) provide many tax breaks to companies that use, manufacture, and create alternate power and their operating parts.
13) provide taxbreaks for families that use at least one type of alt enegry sorce (solar, geothermal, wind, etc)
14) raise taxes on all tobacco products, tobacco "accesseries" this INCLUDES cigiars
15) impose a national 1% sales tax on alcholic beverages in the bottle, can, etc if manufactured in anything larger than a "micro" bewery
16) impose a 1% tax on income for ALL wage earners that is exempt only if you do not "earn" a wage or if you are over the age of 65, a disabled vet, or a full time student under the age of 25. This is in addition to the income tax reform (see below) rates. This tax is to be used for education.
17) INCOME TAX REFORM a flat tax that is NEVER exempt. If you are a resident, citizen or illegal you get to pay this. This percentage would be something like 15%. Married or single, old and young, rich and poor, every person would pay this tax on INCOME. States would be encouraged to create a flat tax as well but at no time would the total of state, local and federal income taxes be allowed to exceed 30% of the total income of any one. Thats INCOME, not lottery winnings, gifts inheritances, etc. those would be delt with in a different manner at a different FLAT tax bracket. Deductions would be allowed on medical expenses, children, intrest payed out, use of "green" power sources, and the like.
18) large businesses (employes over a set number in the thousands) would have a higher tax bracket than say, a small business that employes less than 100 or a mom and pop that employs less than 15. Small business incentives would be created including and not limited to access to competitive affordible health coverage.
19) Technology would be expanded so there isnt a home that doesnt have affordable access to cable, DSL, Satilite ETC internet connections. Cable and sat companies use tax dollars to launch their equiptment in space, its time they were capped on prices. same for phones and such.
20) large coprerations that form monoploies would be broken down and made into smaller intities to encourage better pricing through competition on many products.
21) congress would recieve (as would the president and so on) salray caps. Why should these idiots make that kind of money
22) The practice of "afirmitive action" would be faded out so as to provide employers with qualified people regardless of race, gender, age, etc. discrimination would still be punishible, but forcing companies to hire less qualified people because of what ever reason is unacceptable (Im a woman and Im saying this)
23) Malpractice insurance costs capped for doctors. too many are quitting and prices are too high because of this
24) idiotic law suits (burned by hot coffee? duh you knew it was hot) would be capped to only include ACCUAL damages and in some cases legal costs.
25) The military would have better benifits and the health standards (which I admit are harsh) would be relaxed for SOME jobs but not all. Inotherwords, if you are 25lbs over weight you can still work in an office right? and if you can pass basic training why should it matter? The height/weight charts are outdated anyway.
I could go on and on....
Many politicians have platforms and such which are to complicated to understand just reading a few here made it seem complicated. Though the ones with the best slogans and ones that can best explain their position(s) the simplest ways and can be comprehended are the ones that get voted in office for sure in the end.
