China is such an important country. I think it makes sense to try to better understand the place that supplies a good chunk of what we buy!

I think Chinese is a fascinating, beautiful language. I love the way it sounds- not perhaps the most beautiful-sounding language, but very unique. I don't think it is particularly difficult to learn- it is simply more time consuming than other languages because of the tones, and the individual characters. Other than that it seems doable.

yes, it is do-able.

my progress is ultra slow but I get great joy from the past nine years of learning. i get soooo side-tracked into poems, fables, general Chinese things.

and part of it is devising tricks and methods to keep it fresh and interesting.

i really enjoy working with pen and paper to get a character to look 'right'.

关于繁体字和简体字之间的区别,我只想说这一点:对我个人而言,那两种中文的写法都有自己的特点。我觉得繁体字很难写,有时候真的很头痛。不过繁体字跟简体字相比,繁体字更容易看懂。而且,如果你对中文的字体的来源感兴趣,或者你想学古文,你必须要学繁体字。哈哈,你们已经可以看得出来,我懒得用繁体字。我只是想说繁体字确实很重要。
