For 2012 if it were: Obama vs Palin?

For the upcoming 2012 election if Barak Obama was running against Sarah Palin for president, who would you vote? Any why?

For myself, I'd vote Sarah Palin. Firstly because I'm very conservative and have always voted republican in the past which was Bush and McKain, secondly she's an already well known public figure with more years of experience in politics than Obama.

By the way this is not who will be running in 2012, but it's being talked about in the media. I just thought I'd start a conversation for those who have input on the subject.

Palin. She would be hard pressed to do worse than Obama.

I'd shudder that these are the 2 candidates we have and then grudgingly vote for Palin.

Sarah Palin won't be the republican nominee in 2012 no matter what. Maybe she could be Pat Buchanan like protest vote in the republican party but I don't see her appeal widening much beyond her core constituency. I don't understand the fascination with her in the media tho. It's bizarre.

I'd vote third party if that was the choice tho in 2012. If I had to choose who I'd rather have between Palin and Obama I guess I'd pick Palin. I didn't think either were qualified to become president though.

Moot question, as Palin will never be nominated for President- nor should she be.

The Obama administration thus far has failed to impress me. We'll see how it goes as time goes on, but so far it's been rather disappointing. But I cannot conceive of any possible situation in which I would vote for that lunatic Palin.

I can. Just that. If she was somehow miraculously put into power, and her ideas made into policy, anarchy would have a chance. And anarchy could be fun.

Are you implying that a Palin administration would be so disastrous that people would simply reject the government entirely?

Not saying you're wrong, by the way. I know if Palin were ever elected I'd be one of the first refugees fleeing the country.

Some recent news about Obama- he came out and said that he's not actually going to close down Guantanamo like he said he would. He has also failed to implement his promised healthcare reform, and has yet to do anything about the Mid-East wars. So I certainly can't vote for him in 2012- he can't keep his promises. Looks like I'll have to find a third-party fringe candidate or abstain.

Palin. She's the woman we need to put God back where he belongs: in our government.

I suppose if it were a choice between Sarah of the Frozen North who is a tad ignorant and an outright fascist, Sarah would be better. But I find the choice so onerous I would abstain from voting.

Palin is to the right as Nader is to the left; attractive to that subgroup, but ultimately the cause of defeat by the greater majority.

I think seeing that line up would be for our government what the 'They can eat cake' moment was for the Bourbon monarchy. By then everyone would realize that the elites have flown the entire machine off to Oz.

Such a ticket would be the reductio ad absurdum for our democracy.

I would give this question another year or two to see what happens in the political realm. Obama has left me a little disappointed, but I do understand with that how government works, things can be slow to take flight. Bill Clinton fought the same things with his term (remember the failed health care reform, and how Congress changed parties in the first term, but things happened in his second term).

Even though Obama has left me underwhelmed, I would probably vote for him over Palin. She does not strike me as being overly intelligent.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more of a mainstream candidate such as Romney or Huckabee run in 2012. More than likely, it will probably be a person whom is well known in political circles, but is not yet a household name.

Romney won't be the GOP nominee- he's Mormon, he won't get the support of the Religious Right, and no Republican can win without them. On the other hand, Huckabee would only be supported by the Religious Right, and they aren't big enough to win an election on their own.

I disagree. Once she finds a way to fire clerks in various Presidential Libraries and expel military officers who get on the bad side of her extended family, even the most insane rightists will recall the Obama days with rose coloured glasses.

If I were a US citizen in 2012 facing a Palin-Obama election, I'd consider starting a "Draft Dean Baker" campaign.
