I've heard people on spectrum referred to as "medical minority" like the deaf community...

I think some people are speaking "minority" when they mean "culture."

Are we a minority? Yes, both statistically (1/100, 1/250, whatever stat you choose) and legally (in jurisdictions that prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability).

The deeper question is, "Do Aspies form a culture within society?" Certainly forums like this, and events like Aspie Pride suggest the early stages of one. But we are not as advanced as the gay community in establishing a cultural presence within mainstream society.
