Do you mind if I ask how you went about getting your diagnosis, and on what grounds did they diagnose you?
I approached my uni GP in September and mentioned my suspicions - she agreed that I was somewhere on the spectrum and referred me to a psychiatrist.
The psychiatrist appointment was in hospital yesterday (so 3 months later). We just had a chat for a while and then he mentioned that my GP had written to him about the ASD/AS and he asked me which aspects of my behaviour correspond with my idea of AS. He was really probing with lots of "what else?" questions.
At the end of the consultation he explained that I had OCD and severe depression but AS doesn't really have any treatment options (other than support groups).
So you'd just have to weigh up whether a diagnosis would change anything for you - at least as Brits it would all be covered by the NHS so there's nothing to pay. I just feel a little less of a fraud now because there can be a lot of tension towards the self-dxed.
