I just realized something that made me so happy. I realized that if I hadn't been an Aspie, if all of the bad things that have happened to me hadn't happened, I wouldn't be nearly as happy as I am right now. The things that one endures throughout their life just make today all that much better. Let me elaborate. If I hadn't had Asperger Syndrome, I never would have gotten bullied out of public school. I never would have gotten bullied in my first privite school to the point where I'd have to switch again. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it? Well, I'm not done yet. I never would have been to my current school, where I've met the best friends I've ever had in my life. I never would have been introduced to the art website where I met my best online friends, one of which I'm traveling from Connecticut to Canada to meet this summer. I never would have been introduced to anime and manga, and improved my art style incredibly, like I did. I never would have been encouraged to sing with all my heart, or learned that my voice really is my most prized possession. Most importantly, I wouldn't be me, and I wouldn't have all the quirks that make me this way. I mean, yes, I've lost some wonderful friends along the way that I would love to get back, that I never got to say goodbye to, and I miss them more than anything. But I also have wonderful friends right now, and I never would be sitting here in my school's lounge, or be chatting with my best friends both online and off,or probably even having a smile on my face right now if I didn't endure the suffering it took to get me here. Guys, it may seem bad right now, but things will be so much better in the end, I promise. Love you all from Haley, a 14 year old high-school freshman in Connecticut. <3

I too have thought about my life in a similar way. Without the things happening before that were then "bad", the things I value now would have never happened. :D

It's nice to see the power of positive thinking at work, especially for a girl of your age. There are too many people who take a negative world view or choose to become a victim when bad stuff happens in their life. I applaud your outlook and encourage you to never lose it. Congrats Haley!

I think this forum makes aspergers look worse than it really is.

It's all perspective, no matter what...
