Like, when you're reading a newspaper or watching the news, or you see a picture relating to your interest.

It happens to me, sometimes I can get REALLY excited even if someone mentions it in conversation.

Yup, definitely! Sometimes I'll read or watch something just because it has details relating to it, too.

yes! I have a particular area of federal policy that I'm pretty obsessed over, although I don't have enough time to really keep up. I do it in spurts. but one day I stopped to talk to a canvasser looking for prop 8 support and prop 8 is one of the tiny steps that might get my pet policy more national attention, so I launched into a dissertation and probably bored the poor guy half to death although if he listened at all he can have no doubt about the dire inequality inherent in our social security system!

so, yeah.

if I even hear a rumor there's a talk, I have to find the article or at least know who's talking about it.

Don't get me started on anything having to do with my special interest. Just the smallest hint, any trivia, and...I could be there all day. Week, maybe.

Lately, I've taken to hiding my knowledge of certain topics so I can through people off later. Imagine something like this:

"Argh, I can't figure out this equation."

"Did you try blah blah blah...?"

"Oh, hey! I didn't know you're a physics major!"

"No, I'm an art major."

8O

That one's almost cruel, but you get the idea.

Yeah, Ive been there a few times. If its a game, novel, show, concept that i like looking into, its like a reflex that i divulge info about . . . well, regurgitate info I should say. Like its some kind of high.

Not anymore because it's usual about that stupid show Meerkat Manor and not actual meerkats.

Yes, mention of anything pertaining to or connected with or reminescent of my "special interests" gets me excited.
