The songs do not relate to you whatsoever, but you like them anyways? Songs that other people would not ever expect you to like because they go against your character?

I've got a few of those. They're just so darned catchy.
They're totally not me, not my lifestyle, not my views, but I like them anyways.

All the time! It's embarrassing to be a human being but we just need to deal with it.

Yes, sometimes just the music is enough to catch me, or sometimes just one line of lyric. But my "favorite" is actually so confusing or misleading for others that I have deleted it from my iPod I play through some speakers at work.

I was in a cafe the other day and they played a real blast from the past.
Patti Page singing "Mockingbird Hill"

That song is about as corny as you can get but I like it.
If you want to hear it go to youtube.

Nah. I'm a serious record collector. I've catalogued over 100,000 songs in my database and have many thousands to go. I like songs for whatever reason... if I like it, I like it. I can't help it. My collection has artists as diverse as King Crimson and The Partridge Family, Deep Purple and David Seville & The Chipmunks, Steppenwolf and Donny Osmond, Aerosmith and Michael Jackson (as a kid), Hawkwind and The Monkees, Led Zeppelin and Bobby Goldsboro.

You shouldn't be embarrassed to like music. It exists for you to like it. That's why the people struggled to become professional enough to make records - so you might like them.

Not anymore, I only categorise music into "music I like" and "music I don't like" without any consideration for the culture behind the music.

Oh, absolutely. The worst thing, though, is when I eventually start enjoying a song which I originally hated. It's like the song worms its way into my brain and demands I start to like it.

That really confuses me.

The most embarassing songs I like are usually vulgar ones that have no point BUT to be vulgar:

"Where The Hood At?" - DMX
"Hokus Pokus" - Insane Clown Posse
"Suck My ...!" - D*ckheads
"Get Away" - E-rotic

But for some odd reason, even though "Whip It" by Devo is on my iPod, I'm always too embarrassed by it to sit through the entire song, even though it's not vulgar like the other songs I've listed.
