I just started taking classes at the community college here, and I completely failed the essay part of the accuplacer. So I have to take a class on how to write essays. I seriously can't write an essay.

I have to write a 2 page essay by tomorrow on whatever topic I want. I got nothing. I pick a topic, write 3 sentences and then realize I can't think of anything further to write on the subject. I had an in-class essay I had to write last week that was supposed to be about my favorite teacher. I couldn't think of any teachers I actually liked so I wrote 3 sentences about Mr. Wizard. I managed to stretch it to 6 by adding a paragraph on Bill Nye.

Does anyone else here have that problem? Any advice?

Since it has to be a descriptive essay I thought about describing a golf ball. Fill 2 pages with "And next to that dimple is another dimple."

Sure, as long as you know how many are actually there ... and if you still need more text, you could tell about MythBusters proving the dimples actually make it possible for the ball to travel farther in flight ... and then they even got better fuel mileage by dimpling a car!

Too many years taking / teaching University courses. I survive essays because I can get windy - I just download anything I know. My wife tends to run out after three sentences.

It depends. In lower courses, we all have a problem. Graded by a TA, looking for keywords and ignoring everything else; I usually did not have the right word even if my answer was correct.

In courses where I don't know or care - even Mr Wordy runs out of ideas after a paragraph. To write, I have no have something to say [a lot of my students did not feel that way].

When you make it to a course you are INTERESTED in, with a teacher who is also interested [I can wonder if most of the Mob actually HAVE even non-special interests, they do not show it] - there you will be all right.

I was officially diagnosed with aspergers just this week, and I heard that I could request accommodations from the school. What kind of accommodations do schools give for aspergers?
I've been getting all my other homework done fast then spending the rest of my time learning to write. Keeping a journal and such.
