schizoaffective and aspergers?

Hey all,
I was just wondering,does anyone here have or has anyone heard of a schizoaffective diagnosis going along with a diagnosis of aspergers? I have been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder but not aspergers. I really do believe I have aspergers and want to get a diagnosis if I have it. It would explain a lot. Also how do you go about getting diagnosed?

I have been diagnosed with both schizoaffective bipolar type and autism. I got diagnosed with autism (not Asperger's Syndrome but classic autism) when I was 5 years young and had symptoms of it basically from birth according to my parents. I got diagnosed by a panel of doctors and had extensive testing. I really don't remember the details since its so long ago. I am 26 years young now, going on 27 this Friday the 19th. I had symptoms of schizoaffective around 13, but that was caused by severe bullying and stress that pushed me into a complete psychotic breakdown. I know there is also "brief reactive psychosis" which is caused by stress but I think mine lasted too long for that but once again I don't remember. Then I started having more breakdowns at 23 and actually got diagnosed with schizoaffective. I also know someone in my NAMI group that has autism and paranoid schizophrenia. I think there are people on wrong planet that has this combination as well. You should get a psychological assessment to determine if you have Asperger's.

Thanks ALOT for your answer. I've been trying to find out for a while now. I have an appointment with my case worker Wed. and I think I'm going to bring it up and tell her I'd like an assessment if possible.
