A psychiatrist. They are said to "shrink your head". I'm not sure why.

It is comparing psychiatrists to head hunters or "headshrinkers" who practice head shrinking.

I guess people felt the process of psychotherapy (this term "shrink" was used 1950s-60s) screwed with your head. I'm not totally sure how head shrinking is connected, except that head hunters messed with people's heads and so did psychiatrists.

I thought it was a therapist you see that helps you out with your problems. That can be psychologist.

Shrink is usually used to refer to a psychiatrist (rather than a psychologist - there's a difference!). Not sure of the origin of the term.

Research the Shuar. Head shrinking was something done by them to their enemies so that their spirits couldn't take vengance against them from the grave (from what I understand in basic terms). I'm guessing that psychiatrists are called shrinks because like the Shuar once did, they also get inside your head but not in a literal way of course. :lol:

so when a psychiatrist talks at you about your problems, it is called a shrinkrap. a pun, of sorts. [deafening silence, then boos]
