I have been very messy my whole life. My car and my house are a mess. I have numerous unfinished craft projects that I can neither finish or throw away. there are papers and books everywhere. I wash dishes, and vacuum far less than other people. I also tend to collect things I think I might want and then not throw them away. I am Very, very messy. When I do manage to clean stuff up somewhat I enjoy doing it and feel much less anxious afterward. I just can't seem to do it.

I have always thought if I could get a handle on this it would take care of most of my problems. I never have company, but if someone does come over I am in apanic just to try and get the house accaptable. I know this bothers my husband, he is very neat and no longer invites people either. I know it causes tension between us too. I really need to learn to manage this better.

I am a newly self diagnosed possible Aspie, and I just read somewhere this morning that this type of thing is typical of Aspies. It is like a revelation! Now I am more sure I am. I have been so ashamed my whole life and to have a reason behind it would make me feel better. Hopefully I will use it to better myself rather than as an excuse.

Is anyone else very messy like this?

I'm messy, disorganized, and quite often unhygienic.

Yes, I am very much like this, right down to collecting things "I think I might want" (like old clocks or hanging on to burned candles). Im usually preoccupied with with my thoughts to the extent that if I don't organize my time at the beginning of each day ill end up sort of walking around in a daze or daydream like state, leaving things out of place and generally not picking up after myself and forgetting things.

What I do to combat this is to mentally categorize things that need to get done, visualizing where things belong and when and how I will do things. I have to do this on a conscious level with even the most mundane tasks or I simply become absentminded.

My mother told me this, although I asked her if she asked everyone what they thought about my smell and she said she did not and she did not need to, for reasons unknown.

Also my room is messy and I like it that way.

I stink at cleaning unless I have a machine
to help me.

i have found that with some kind of
machine to help, things that were used to
be impossible now are do-able.

I have a round skrub brush that I put
on a cordless/flexless drill, this power
makes it possible to skrub wallz and things,
it is aaaaan official Assistive Device for me.

I'm not as clean and tidy as I can be, but I'm working at it.

I go through periods where I get a little OCD about the state of my house and periods where I let things slide. Currently in a bit of a slide period at the moment.

Yeah I know about the messy situation I have such a hard time ever cleaning and it always takes me so long to clean once I finally do because things are so trashed.Almost everything about me is disorganized.I've been in 2 relationships in my lifetime and I think that was a huge reason they left me.Its just so hard to do the things were supposed to sometimes when I really want to be on the computer or playing videogames, waatching a tv show or movie.I really gotta work on that it helps to clean if I got some good music on.

My Mum has obsession (I say: OCD!) of cleaning. Her favourite sentence is ORDER MUST BE! And no mercy, all must be done in order and neat! And when she wants, no later or tomorrow.
Everything where it belongs. And as precisely as can be. Because my Mum likes to say it's botch, not work!

I'm used to keep home clean, but I often forget I should do sth. Now I live in dorm and it makes me mad when other people make total mess, I say they are rabble and should go back to kindergarten.

Maybe I will be worse than my Mum, I mean: more strict. Or not. She says that she is not as strict as Grands, they used to say OVER-ORDER MUST BE!

Oh, I forgot this area was called Prussia some years ago

I'm like that too. I can decide one day to clean my room and make it spotless, but then a few weeks roll by and the mess builds up. I usually don't clean my room until I see dust pile up. I'm pretty good wish doing dishes and washing, only because I used to get yelled at if I didn't do it.

Cleanliness is next to godliness.
So by being clean, you become of a god-like status.
That is quite a feat.
Might be featured in your local newspaper.
Or not.
Perhaps your town/city/village does not take kindly to god folk.
Perhaps they write epics about your gargantuan cleanliness.
Perhaps they find it normal, to be so clean, that the air within 29 miles of you purifies itself and fills with a vague scent of roses.
Unlikely, sure, but there is little less one can imagine about a saying as grand as that.

I've been told I have a clean house "for a guy".

Pfft. I used to know girls in university who hid the dirty bowls behind the sofa to avoid cleaning them.

Eww!! They shouldn't complain when they get a cockroach infestation then because those girls are practically inviting them inside.

As for me, my bedroom is disorganized but it's not messy or unhygenic. It's only a single bedroom and just so cluttered because I don't really throw anything away. I don't know what to keep and what to throw away so I just end up keeping everything, even receipts. I want to make my room more organized but I don't know where to start, so I just don't start.

There's nothing wrong with my personal hygiene. A lot of people consider it to be a bit excessive (especially my oral hygiene) but at least I don't smell bad. :)
