Hey All,

Sitting here alone...everyone is asleep. My parents, my cat, everyone. I am so damned lonely. My body craves the nighttime, always has since I was little. I have always been a major night owl...but when nighttime happens, nothing is going on. Everyone is asleep, everyone is offline, so I get lonely very quickly with no one to talk to.

What do you all do to keep the lonelys away at night when you are up late? I don't think I would mind nighttime so much if I wasn't so lonely.

Back in days when I was a night owl, I spent my nights online. Most people I knew online were up and about at that time. One of the "advantages" of living in Australia.
You should meet some more Aussies online.

I post here and other places which helps a lot.

Sometimes I will read, listen to music but the racing thoughts are hard to get rid of sometimes depending on my mood.

It's especially hard being by myself, I never seem to get use to it and you'd think I would.

I used to have this problem. Then I became friends wth an American :D I don't talk to him anymore but I don't mind. Since coming on meds again I seem to value my solitude more and more.

I don't mind sharing my time with others, and I would like to be friends with people, especially fellow Aspies, but my location makes it nearly impossible.

I get like that sometimes. I find humourous websites helpful (cracked.com, the Onion, failblog...). Sites where you can watch tv shows online are also good for killing time until you fall asleep.

If you want company, maybe get a nocturnal pet, like a hamster? Although you would have to be really careful with the cat.

Flatsky, my cat (the one in the picture), keeps me company at night. He is nocturnal like me. We stay up at night and sleep all day :)

To everyone else, keep the responses coming, they are really good. :)

I go out with my friends in the evening, but than I return back to my place, around 8:30. An hour and a half later, around 10, I start to feel very lonely. Everybody in my complex is sleeping by than, and even though I don't really talk to any of them - they're all seniours, I still feel that night time loneliness. The feeling crawls over my body, like a temporary death and I spend that extra hour on WP. More so now, that I don't have to get up for work the next morning - (yet).

I sit on my computer and think about going to bed (like now).
But it's just not happening to-morning. I meant to say tonight but it's 12am now.

"listening" to other lonely folks and comparing notes. doing DSP work on my collection of thousands of corrupted audio recordings. making the occasional stab at cleaning my pigsty. viewing p-rn. listening to music. tinkering with my audio system. watching DVDs. making silly posts/threads on WP. sometimes even just sleeping. that's just about the extent of it.
