Forgetting social events
Here's what happened.
Yesterday I found one of my friends had invited me to her 21st birthday party on Facebook. I panicked because I thought it was tonight (Saturday) when I read the start time. My social skills, even online are really bad, and I forgot to RSVP. Only late last night did I remember that I still needed to respond and I went to Facebook to RSVP this morning.
When I got to the page I realized the party was last night (Friday). My mind had mixed up the end date (Saturday...it was kind of a sleepover) with the start time (6:30PM) when I first read the invite. Then when I told this to my parents, my mum said "and you didn't even respond, that was rude". But what I don't get is why it's not "rude" when people do it to me. I invite my friends to lots of events through Facebook and none of them respond at all. Mum sticks up for them by saying "your friends are all very busy", well I'm busy too, thinking about postgrad college and getting my drivers' license, and a part time job and other things I have to do. Even if I only have a little bit of academic work to do, I just can't stop thinking about it.
Don't get me wrong. I don't hate my friends. It's just really, really, really hard for me to do anything with them.
