Newsagents act over 'lads mags'

Quote:
Newspapers and magazines with sexual content are to be moved to higher shelves under new guidelines.

The deal, struck between newsagents and Home Office officials, is not legally binding but trading standards will be able to reprimand offending outlets.

Non-story, but I do feel that Britain is becoming an increasingly authoritarian and intolerant society. At the end of the day, what does the Daily Sport and the like really deal in? Tat.

I’m not surprised. Many so-called lad’s mags such as Loaded, FHM and Arena have been getting more and more like Playboy over the last few years. Some parents may well be apprehensive about allowing such publications to be so visible to younger children.

I believe Australia is becoming increasingly totalitarian as well - shades of Gearge Orwell's "1984". Whilst I agree that political correctness in its milder forms has some benefits, I believe that when taken to its current extremes, PC is little more than a tool used by minorites to get their way over the majority.

Uh...yeah. Moving titty mags a metre up the wall.

Somebody get Amnesty International onto this before we get expelled from the UN.

And where do we draw the line? Do we start banning certain authors because they have views that offend minorities? Do we close the churches because they offend Muslims? Part of being a tolerant society is being able to accept that others like things that one might not like one's self.

As far as I am aware, the only people that openly object to lad's magazines are rabid feminists who know damn well that most men wouldn't touch them with a 40 foot pole.

FHM and Ralph aren't being banned, and neither should they be. Restricting accessability to minors hardly constitutes banning something.

And you are now aware of a heterosexual male who thinks they're evil. And who is more inclined to be sexually attracted to women with feminist leanings.
