I did, until Creative Labs stopped supporting my Zen Xtra mp3 player and turned Microsoft loose on the firmware, which immediately screwed it up and completely wiped the drive. After that, I wasn't inclined to buy another Creative product, and I needed a very high capacity unit, so I broke down and bought a 160 gig iPod.

I did get the Zen working again eventually, but now that it's got Microsuck's Plays4Sure firmware on it, it doesn't function as well as it did before.

I don't own a single apple product. Weird. Never thought about it before.

It's not that I disagree about whether or not the products are better or anything. I can't say never having used one. **shrugs**

I prefer all my stuffz to be open source or open standard, which Apple is not. I serve up media through a uPnP device and copy it to a music player that acts like an external drive. I give in with MP3 and DVD files because they are the de facto standard, even if they are not open. I like to organise my photos and documents my own way, with my own names - just try renaming an iPhoto image and moving it to another folder to see why this can be a problem in Apple's world.

Other family members have iPorn and it copes fine in this environment - although it is easier to get things into the Apple products than out of them, because they seem to be very possessive little beasts.

I'm quite content to live an apple free existence. The more that people try to shove apple products down my throat the more I want to hit them in the face with a shovel. My friend came over a few weeks ago and said to me "you might be jealous, but look what I just got" and handed me an ipod touch. I was like, clearly you don't know me at all, get that disgusting thing away from me this instant.

That sucks about your zen, Willard. Having used an ipod a few times I find my zen to be much better in almost every way. I would be crushed if it stopped working.

I have been Apple free since birth. My computers run Windows 7 and Ubuntu either as a multiboot or virtual machine, my phone is a Blackberry Pearl 8120 and I use an 8 gig Cowon D2 as my MP3 player. I have it Rockboxed, so I can play DOOM or Game Boy games released before the Advanced. I am the only one in my family besides my older sister who doesn't own anything made by Apple.she has a 2 gigabyte Samsung YP-K3 and a 1 gigabyte SanDisk Sansa m200 series. My parents own iPhones, but my dad has a Blackberry Bold for work use. My younger sister owns a third generation iPod Nano. All the computers in my house run Windows only except for my desktop and laptops. My desktop multiboots Windows 7 and Ubuntu, but my two laptops run Ubuntu only except for my Compaq presario CQ60-418DX. I have Windows 7 in a virtual machine for when I need it and on my old HP Pavilion Ze4530US, I have Ubuntu on it as its only OS.

We had an Ipod once, but someone stole it, so I guess we're 'free'...;)

Save for an iPod that my sister left here years ago (probably going to take this apart someday), yeah. But, in a few weeks when my iPad 3G comes, not so much.
