Moving PMs to my PC. Possible? Can I write a bot to do it?

Is there any feature to forward existing PM's to my WP registered email address? I ended up with my saved PM folder at nearly 300% capacity the other day after tipping my sent folder into it! It took ages manually opening and copying and pasting each post individually to my computer. I don't fancy trying it with my inbox, that is worse and would take me hours.

If nothing already exists to automate the process I'm tempted to write a little bot program to automate this but don't know how Alex would feel about such a thing? Good or bad? Probably best only to run such a thing when WP isn't busy anyway because it would be wanting to load a web page up for every PM archived to the local machine.

I'm sure this process could be done much more efficiently at the server end, but as always it would require Alex to code a "Forward to email" feature.

I would just copy and paste to word pad.

Are you able to search using your webmail? If you are... Try searching alex@wrongplanet.net and hopefully you would only just get WP emails... As League_Girl mentioned, you can try using copying and pasting it.

You are not really making a huge number of requests so I don't see how they could object or even know, it is if you are doing it yourself but you are too lazy. if you are concerned about load then put a delay between requests. It is rather trivial to scrape that sort of thing, You just need something to handle the login session. You can use something like cURL with your own crude parser or the likes of Mechanize (Ruby) to make it a little easier.
