That Justin person is a guy?

Joking aside I do feel sorry for kids in terms of music today.

Thats why when my brothers go riding with me or listen to my MP3 player I have them listen to something that is worth listening to.

A lot of people think that music nowadays is sh*t.

However, Justin Bieber, Hannah Montana, and the like are all Disney Channel-esque stars, so they're probably trying to appeal more to preteens than to the general public. Not all music nowadays is bad. There has to be at least one modern musician or band that you like.

I also dislike a lot of today's music. I was never into the latest music, to be honest. I was listening to Classic Rock, as a preteen.

You complain about what kids are listening to now, and you bring up Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, N*Sync and NKOTB as good examples? If it weren't for groups like the ones you mentioned, there wouldn't be a Justin Bieber. Sure it's getting worse, but the groups you mentioned were part of the same process that has led to where it is today. If NKOTB hadn't sold so well, Backstreet Boys wouldn't have been created, and if they hadn't sold well, N*Sync wouldn't have been created, and it's all a big chain reaction leading to Justin Bieber. You have only yourself to blame for listening to Backstreet Boys.
Me, I grew up listening to Frank Zappa. That's music.

I do tend to gravitate toward music before my time.

Does seem like they had better music back then especially the 60s and 70's.

You sound like an old person already!! ! LOL I have not enjoyed much of any new stuff for the past decade or so if it is on a top 40 type station. I like harder rock and alternative. Soft rock is crap.

LOL! I sound old! :-) I agree if it wasn't for NKotB there wouldn't be a Backstreet Boys and I didn't know Bieber was part of the "disney crew" (Hannah Montanna,Jonas Bros. etc.) I also don't like the Big Time Rush stuff either. :-) As music I like Rock not metal but not soft alternative (I guess is what it's called) Nickelback,3 Doors Down, etc.

Since I was just a little kid, I can remember getting my grandma and mom's tapes and records out and listening to all the music they'd accumulated over the years. It's funny because I remember getting into various genres music except the ones of my current generation. There are some good stuff out but for some reason I seem to gravitate toward a lot of the old stuff. I've had people on the internet mistake my age to be that of a baby boomer because of the many songs I collect from various artists mostly ranging from the 60's and 70's. I do however have many genres that go back before the renaissance age. I never understood the importance of loving only contemporary music or music that expresses one's current generation. Then again, I've never been very fond of the "youth" culture. I think there's been a lot of capitalizing on that.

I miss those types of music actually, grew up listening to those and everyone bragging on and on about it.
The 90's was most well known for pop music and manufactured bands. I still couldn't believe half of the music I listened to was SO cheesy. just WOW!

But those musics of today, "High School Musical" it would only kill me if I only listened to it once, the 1st album weren't too bad, just got bored of it within a minute.
Hannah Montana, makes me deaf.
Jonas Bros are made of plastic.
But where I live, most people just play hip-hop and r&b, even raggae so I won't be hearing those. ;)

I don't like a lot of modern English music (by English I mean the language, so American counts in this definition). I mostly listen to Latin and Slavic music (though some of that is going the same way as the rubbish that passes for music in the English-speaking world these days, but most of it is much better than modern English music).

Having said all that, there are some English songs I can bring myself to tolerate. The problem is that, with English songs, I might like it the first few times I hear it, but I'll get bored of it very quickly. But with music in other languages, it's more interesting to me, so I'll like the song for a lot longer. I've had songs on my iPod for about a year that I still haven't got bored of, because they're in foreign languages.

While I'm on the subject, it's Eurovision soon, and I get annoyed when they put most of the songs in English to try and reach a wider audience or whatever, I'd much prefer it if they had more songs in foreign languages.

I agree. I also hate Eurovision all in English and the same plastic music. I think that showing our diversity would be really great! But some people have complexes and they think American is better! so they replace W with V, J with Y and K with C, add some English words and make rubbish plastic music (or sth else) :?
