For a year or two now I have been intrigued with the meaning and etymology of everyone's name.

All names have a meaning, but the etymology side also intrigues me because I'm fascinated by how all names originate in a plethora of different languages and have worked their way through to us.

My name is Mark, considered to mean warrior, because Mars was the Roman god of war. The name is considered to be Latin, from Marcus, which in turn came from Mars.

Mars, in turn, may have come from a different language into Latin. I've seen that it may come from a root mar- which is found in Sanskrit meaning shine or gleam. Other explanations are that it's from Greek or Armenian words meaning fight, or from Etruscan from their god Maris.

Do you know about the meaning and linguistic origin of your name?

She is vibrant lively and loves life
Often unpridictable due to her impulsive nature
Chloe Chloe Chloe

Mine means, "God is my judge." I prefer to think that, eventually, an angel will save me from the lions. Their teeth, ooooooh, so sharp!! ! And the breath...

Yes, I know the origin of my real name. However, Namiko is what I go by here, and the origin is Japanese for "little wave", fairly suitable because I like the ocean. :)

"Paguk" was a demonic entity from Ojibwa mythology...essentially a ranimated skeleton that hunted warriors and felled them with invisible, poison-tipped arrow.
