I wouldn't consider myself a leader, but I'm not exactly a follower either. I was the first one I know to come out and say I love Lady Gaga. So I was the leader in that, then she became a big sensation and now people respect me for it. That's a bad example, I know. I tend to be very opinionated and butt heads with people who would probably be considered higher on the social ladder than I. That's how I know I'm not a follower, but I kinda wish I was more of a leader. I wish people followed me and listened to what I have to say and respected me. Is there anyone out there who is like this?

Ew Lady Gaga. Sorry, but if she was lesser known I'd still not like her.
I'm not a leader and I'm not likely to be apart of a pack.
I used to try and convert people to my ways then I realised I'm also not a sharer with my music but there's other interests I wish more people were into so I could talk about them to. But I don't want to be a leader.

I'm not a leader, by any means, but I do move to the beat of a different drum.

I'm not a leader at all, but I'm not really a follower, either.

I'm a follower. I have always copied people and getting influenced by them. If I hang around jerks, I start acting like one.

It's so hard for me to not get influenced by people and it takes a lot of energy to not do what they do. Sometimes I don't even know if I want to do it because my friends did it or because I want to do it.

I try and be my individual self, same as when I form my own opinions, not opinions formed by other peoples and I based mine off theirs.

I'm a leader in denying I'm one
in addition to the previous posters. Such admirable leaders we have...

You need followers to be a leader. :X What we are is rebels (or me at least, but I don't feel like changing this up just so its fair/empirical as possible), our preferences may be shared by the general population, but the fact that we have these preferences does not affect whether or not NTs are upfront about their preferences.

So they aren't really following us in any sense.

Speaking in general terms, there are always exceptions. I'm sure at least one political leader had AS.

I prefer not to be a leader, but I will often try and take charge of a situation lest chaos ensue.

People have been calling me a leader since long before I was aware they were calling me that. I never set out to be a leader. I only set out to do what I thought was right. And people apparently followed me for that. I would continue doing the exact same thing whether or not anyone followed me. To be honest having people trust me so much unnerves me. I am highly aware of my own limitations and am frequently afraid someone will see me do something incredibly stupid and think it's a good idea. I do think there is a big difference between me and people who consciously set out to be leaders. I wouldn't know how to do that if I tried. I know autistic people who do it consciously though so it's not an autistic vs nonautistic thing, it's just a difference in motivation. The idea that some people follow me is rather terrifying but if I stopped doing what I think is right because of that it would be no better than doing something wrong with the intent of being followed. So I continue doing my own thing and if people choose to follow or not follow it's none of my doing either way.

I don't lead, but if you need to get somewhere, following me is usually the fastest way.

Incidentally, I also picked up on Lady Gaga early last year, Just Dance caught in my head easily, though I was wrong when I assumed Eh, Eh, Nothing Else I Can Say would be the next big hit off the CD.

I work as a freelance Director of Photography so when I'm in this role I have control of a film set - lighting and camera position, framing etc and usually directors look to me for advice - so I kind of lead in this respect.
When I teach students I suppose I'm leading them. This kind of leading is ok for me because both positions have a wall of detachment.
With teaching I just get to rattle on about my obsession while people listen - I do feel a separation which I need, student - teacher. Because I'm in control I feel safe. With the Director of Photography work - it becomes a quiet world between me and my calculations, then when I'm happy I tell the director - it's about control for me. I need to control as much of my personal universe as possible and my knowledge kind of feels like a protective bubble around me that keeps people at bay in what ever I do.

I too have been told that I'm a leader; I didn't set out to be one, I'm just doing what I believe to be the right thing.

I wouldn't be afraid of someone else seeing you do something stupid and think it's a good idea, though; hell they see other people doing stupid things all the time, and not only do they think it's a good idea, the people they're imitating tell them it's a good idea.

I just do what I believe to be right, and take it from there; if others choose to join me in that fine, but I'm not changing course just cause someone else gets bored.

I'm rather independent.
I like people if they use my frequency. I tolerate them if they do what I want. But people can f... up the things even if you tell them what to do in every detail.

Can? Isn't it the law of the universe that they somehow will?
