soundtrack music from:

star trek the motion picture
flash gordon [1980]
paint your wagon
the doors
tommy
the great waldo pepper
american pop
the TAMI show
yellow submarine
all this and world war too [two]

granted, much of the above loses something minus the visuals.

So I'm to understand this as 'soundtracks from favourite movies' as opposed to 'favourite soundtracks from movies'? Results will be pretty similar anyway, but here are the soundtracks from my favourite movies:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Michel Gondry

Inland Empire - David Lynch

Shaun of the Dead - Edgar Wright

The Shawshank Redemption - Frank Darabont

American Beauty - Sam Mendes

...by the way. Thomas Newman. What a gun!! :P

I was thinking about 'favourite soundtracks from movies'.
Sorry for the inaccuracy, English isn't my natural language.

Even though I don't like the harry potter films I love the soundtrack:

I like a lot of John Williams music actually, especially this:

I also like the soundtrack to Avatar, composed by James Horner.

I really love the music from WALL.E and The Princess And The Frog. Most, if not all of the classic Disney movies have great soundtracks.

The Original Sound Track to my favorite movie doesn't exist. A few of the songs were released by their respective artists, but some of the original tapes weren't kept, and if they were, they were destroyed in the fire that consumed much of the original film anyway. It's too bad, because my favorite one doesn't exist at all outside the movie, except for a quite different variation of it that is lifeless in comparison.

The movie is 'Rock And Rule,' by the way. That song I like is "Send Love Through" (Angel's Song) by Debbie Harry, which was later released sans-awesomeness as "Maybe For Sure" on one of her albums, with totally different lyrics.

I still dream of finding the incredibly rare LaserDisc version, so I can hear that song without the tape hiss that's still evident in the "remastered" version on DVD.
