We all know Scientology is a garbage cult that brainwashes the extremely fragile, weak minds and drains them of their money but I wonder how many are familiar with their branches and their offshoot operations. They operate with little public ties to Scientology and, many times, tries to propagate their lies as independent studies or news stories.

The groups are: Narconon, The Citizens' Commission on Human Rights, W.I.S.E., and Applied Scholastics.

Here are articles on each:

Narconon

Citizens' Commmission on Human Rights (not to be confused with an actual human rights lobby)

Are you paying for a scientologist's shoddy work? Better watch out who might be W.I.S.E.

Indoctrination at its finest. Inspired by other successful efforts in this field its...APPLIED SCHOLASTICS!! !

The first two are actual organizations and, if I remember correctly, someone accidentally cited Citizens' Commission before thinking it was a legitimate source. The second two are more obfuscated efforts and are slightly more dangerous.

Isaac Hayes also was a scientologist! :o

But nonetheless, I'm still in love with John Travolta.
I just can't help it, I do love him, always had, always will.
He's a loveable man.

Scientology has 166 known front organizations and an illegal "religious" tax exemption in the US. An Australian TV show called Today Tonight will be doing an expose of their tax evasion practices today--Google Today Tonight Channel 7 Scientology, it will be on there later today.

As you probably know, Scientology also denies the existence of autism. In addition, it imprisons many of its members and disconnects them from their families, forces women to have abortions, and extorts huge amounts of money from members. It has been banned in some countries and an inquiry into it is ongoing in Australia.

There are a number of Scientology-related sites--or for general information check out the St. Petersburg Times ongoing Pulitzer Prize-winning series "The Truth Rundown" with videos and interviews of many former Scientologists. You also might be interested in the Anonymous protest videos on YouTube.

This is a huge issue, much bigger than most people realize. It's a very dangerous group and I'm glad you're concerned about it.

If it wasn't for all that money spent on courses in scientology, I would never have known the truth.

Mr. X. sees and hears everything.

For the money people would spend on scientology, they could buy a pretty nice house. They could also afford proper therapy from a professional rather than a quack.

I don't see your point. Scientolog is doing exactly what all successful religions do in their formative stage - indoctrinate the gullible into rigid rituals and force non-reality based beliefs done their throats.

Revenue agencies the world over should scrap the religious tax exemption.

^It's called "how to talk to a Scientologist" but really, the core principles of each point can pretty much apply to any religion.

either way, scientology is bad news, they literally want control of the world, looks like there is a line forming

UN

The more concerning thing is how much these groups will work in concert.

The Freemasons are a joke, though.

Did you know that L. Ron Hubbard started Scientology as a self-help organization, but quickly declared it to be a religion to avoid being shut down by the government for shoddy medical practices? The whole "religious" angle that Scientology gives itself is basically a cloak and nothing more. The cross they use was put there to make themselves blend in with the more mainstream, Christian religions. Other steps he took included calling his counselors "ministers" and giving them white collars.

The "illegal" part of their tax exemption in the United States is that it is like no other religious tax exemption. It gives even more benefits, such as making a child's education tax-deductible. ...Which is illegal, because Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of a religion. It should also be technically illegal as they provide no charitable services (They'll argue their Volunteer Ministers are charitable, but they don't actually contribute anything other than light massages and pamphlets, and maybe the occasional moving boxes around).

And recently, it's been discovered that even though they're not recognized as a charity in the UK and are therefore taxed, they have been using a loophole to make the UK organizations a part of Australia, where they do have tax exemption, and the UK authorities didn't even know it was happening.

So really, even though you CAN technically make comparisons to other religions, Scientology was never supposed to be a religion, and the fact that some countries recognize them as one is a joke. :)

Don't forget the propaganda film, "Psychiatry: An Industry Of Death"
WOW!! !! !
It is a true eye opener, I won't spoil it, but you can find it on bit-torrent or Amazon.

It will frustrate and infuriate you! The BS that they sell is amazing. It's beyond belief!

In it, you learn how Psychiatry is responsible for the Holocaust. Oops... did I spoil it?

Well, Psychiatry became public enemy #1 for them after Hubbard started a campaign against them. Psychiatrists were a major group criticizing Hubbard's form of psychotherapy. An actual peer-reviewed experiment had been performed in 1953 to see if Hubbard's methods were effective, using a control group and the works. It was concluded that it was rather ineffective, and this is one of the things that sort of triggered Hubbard's decision to declare Scientology to be a religion.

I became interested in Scientology when it was Dianetics way the hell back in the 1940's and tried out their procedures with a friend before it declared itself a religion. It was nonsense then and still is, but it has become much more vicious. But what is frightening is not Scientology which is obviously a scam but that there are so many gullible idiots eager to be screwed. All religions munch on these poor mislead people and it's sad that humanity has so many of them.
