What's the last thing you took literally?

Yesterday my employer (a student nurse-practitioner) brought home some diabetes information for her father-in-law. One of the booklets was called "Juggling for Success". It was about how to figure out when to give yourself the medication but I thought it was about how juggling would lessen your disease and/or make life more enjoyable.

...what's NOT to take literally about that capsule? Sounds straightforward to me..

I was taking your thread title literally. So that's now the last thing I took literally.

My mother:

"It's really sad that a parent drove you to the mental hospital."

Me:

"No, it was nice of you to drive me there."

She meant that my father "drove me there" (which he did).

I was laughing for a long time.

There was this book in a bookstore that I go too often, with the title " Change your Brain, Change your life! " and I took that literally.

The waitress informed me that I could have a bottomless cup of coffee with breakfast. Huh?

I'd never heard of such a thing and the thought of it made me laugh out loud! ... which was my only response.

Thank heaven I was in the company of my good friend who knows me so well and explained.

A moment ago I was reading an article on necrophilia and out of a sudden I saw a photo presenting a man and a woman with "here love blossoms" written across - it was an advertisement having nothing to do with necrophilia but for a moment I thought it referred to the article and was surprised both the people from the photo were perfectly alive

I was at work programming when my colleague asked me:
Him: "Du do you use <name of our test server> for anything?"
Me: ... (long pause)
Him: "That was a little non-specific, wasn't it?" (laughing)

I was actually pausing to mentally create a list of all the stuff I used the test server for (the public git repo, test web server, etc...), not realizing he meant "Are you using it right now?". Ironically he said he would reacted exactly like me, he's a bit literal himself. I think I get more literal when programming. I think thats why I have a talent for programming because I by default is very literal, just like the computer "expects" me to be...

I earned myself the name 'literal girl' once, due to my habit of deliberately taking things literally in order to find humour in them. Someone also asked me if I "learned to read funny" because of this tendency.

I love playing with words, and have lots of fun with puns.

There is just too much to remember.

I had several confusing moments today while traveling

my dad: "robert's your mother's brother."
me: "my mother doesn't have any brothers."
my dad: "... bob's your uncle."
me: "... oh."

I can't remember. At one point I was sitting in the library with a friend and I said "I don't see why the Bible was placed in the non-fiction section," and he said "Well jeez, why don't you say that a bit louder?"
...I did Turns out that was sarcasm..

The last saying that I took literally, is the saying, "No pain, no gain." I still take it literally, to this day.
