All of my posts are visible when my SN is Googled...

Foolish move on my part to use the same SN for multiple sites but I didn't realize that all of my posts would be public info uf my sn was Googled. I don't want to change my SN if it means deleting my account, I want to keep all of my posts and everything, Is there I way that I can have my info/posts made private?

This wont help you with your problem, I think only admin can do that.

But there are two ways around this problem.

1. Dont tell anyone whom you do not trust your sn

2. Get a sn that will turn up a gazillion hits. That way no one will find you under that name unless they also know on what kind of subjects you post.

For instance if your sn is Bob anyone looking for you is lost. But if they also know that you are an amateur ventriloquist they are much more likely to find you.

Everything you do, including stuff on WP, gets indexed by bots and appear in search engines - unless otherwise stated. If you want privacy, do not write anything you want the public to know about.

I only write stuff that i am comfortable with, some of it is quite open, but some things i stay away from posting about entirely. You (and probably everyone else too) should implement such a policy.

How do I contact the admin? I saw the link to contact Alex for business propositions...lol...am I being or weird or can I just contact him about this anyway?

This is why I use about 10 different aliases and they are gradually getting less personally identifiable.

What you've discovered is one of the uncomfortable truths about the internet. As Pistonhead noted, that would be the primary reason many people have different screen names for different forums. Me, I decided way back that trust was my capital for the types of posting I usually do, so after I first discovered what my screen name connects to I decided to live with the good, the bad, the ugly, and the downright embarassing and worked on being more aware going forward instead.

The answer would be to change your screen name here and the only one who could do so would be Alex, but I haven't found him very sympathetic on the issue. He can be reached (in theory; reality is more hit and miss - he's a busy guy) through pm here, using the "contact us" button, or by skype (I've never used it, but I thought he once said it's posted here).

But, overall, IMHO, sometimes we just have to live with the minor issues our inexperience causes us.

I thought those posts were only visible to anyone who has an account. Also, many other websites I am registered with don't display posts and other info to visitors of the sites that aren't registered.

I am OK with taking some of in stride but I don't understand what the point of the members only discussion forum is if anybody can see the posts there.

Ooooops. I was thinking that something I posted in The Haven was in the Member's Only forum. I checked, people can't see the Member's Only forum. Mah bad.

Ah, that's another issue.

I don't think the Haven should be open viewing, but Alex feels strongly that it should be, so that someone with AS who isn't a member and may be experiencing the same touchy issue won't feel so alone. Personally, knowing that such touchy issues are open to google would keep me from ever posting in a place, but I didn't even know about the Haven until I'd been a member a while.

Maybe a notation in the forum description as to it's non-private nature would be helpful, but that has to be done by Alex, as well.

Never tell anyone your screen name. Also, use different screen names for each forum or for each community.

I won't use my real name nor will I give it on any form I sign up to in the internet, just for this reason,
anyhow I thought The Haven board couldn't be seen outside of the WP site, or am I wrong.

People should know that if they are having a meltdown its available for the world to see in the haven, not that I am worried for myself.

I agree, I also feel like while some people should be able to see that other people may be struggling with the same things they are, they should sign up for an account if they feel they need the support that badly.
