NT Logic

You know, there's just sometimes when I find NT logic seriously flawed and I can't help but wonder "Really?" There was this one time when I had to get in touch with a teacher from my school via email. So I sent her one. After not hearing back for a few days my dad suggested I email her a second time as to which I said "What's the point? She didn't get the first one so she obviously won't get the second one." I don't know if that was just my teenage/young adult brain talking or my AS talking. Has anyone experienced any of these NT "Really?" moments?

There is no logic in the NT world. Or if there is, it changes imperceptibly at random times so that we're continually left floundering and confused by the way NTs operate.

On rare occasion, an email can get lost and not find its recipient. Also, the teacher might have received it and meant to respond, but forgotten, in which case another email could be a suitable reminder.

But mainly it seems to be a carryover from social interaction in which you ask again if someone just sits there seeming to ignore your question.

Your Dad was being very logical.

Sometimes people accidentally delete emails because they get overzealous after they've been hit with spam. Sometimes people see that an email isn't spam but they have other more urgent emails that they have to get to first and they forget about the initial email. Sending your email more than once addresses both those problems.

Totally get what you mean.......more than I can describe.

Take care and just follow your instincts. Like my finace says to me when faced with the neurotypical forest, "Just treat everyone like they have AS. If they don't like it, they can go jump in the lake". :)

She may not have gotten the email. Sometimes emails don't go through. So try again to be sure she got it is what he meant. People can get emails the second time after you sent them one again.

Make sure you don't use any words like viagra or other keywords which might trigger the spam filter. Also, change the message or type a different message in case the one you sent might have been filtered. It's generally not considered pestering if you attempt twice to send something.
