I wish we had a maths forum, but here will do.

My new favorite number.

401

why!!

401 is prime.

401 == sum of addtion of seven consecutive primes (43 + 47 + 53 + 59 + 61 + 67 + 71)

401 == sum of nine consecutive primes (29 + 31 + 37 + 41 + 43 + 47 + 53 + 59 + 61)

it is also a HyperText Transfer Protacal (HTTP) status code for an unauthorized request,

jammie

:twisted:

Death to the inferior numbers! Eugenics in Mathematics NOW!

Haha. Seriously, though, if you have a favorite number, then it logically follows that you have a least favorite number, or numbers. I think I'd be more interested in hearing about that.

Heretic! We will burn you at the stake for not having pi or e as your favorite number!

Anyway, 666 also has interesting properties.

Now this sounds like a good story. [Gets cozy on the sofa.]

Oh! Yes! It sure does!

Because the number 666 also signifies that George W. Bush is the antichrist!

My current favourite numbers are Pi along with 117, 119 and 91. THe reason i like the lasdt three is beause people think they are prime numbers but they are not!

No it doesn't.
As for favorites, I don't care all that much, but I'd say 142,857.

Edit: I skipped the phrase "or numbers" before, I now see that technically you are correct, but that the set of least favorite numbers may be as large as ∞-1.

Pi is my favourite number. I've memorised over 50 digits of it. :D

I also like the cubes and squares of numbers.

For fun, I've also memorised ever power of 2 up to twenty.

My favourite prime number is 41...I'm not sure why, I just like it.

Thanks! You just saved me hours of time composing a rebuttal and may have singlehandedly prevented this whole thread from getting steered off-topic by a ridiculous mundane point! You are my hero for the week!

:twisted: Of course, what you do now is point out how if a person has a favorite number and dislikes all other numbers equally, then the person in fact only has less favorite numbers and does not have a least favorite number or numbers.

With careful planning and teamwork, I am convinced we could still totally ruin this thread for everyone. What I still think would be most fun, though, is if Jammie tells us the story of what makes the number seven so bad.

[Blinks.]

Either way, it's definitely time I got off this sofa. I'm starting to get bed sores.

[Stands up. There is a loud velcro-ripping noise, followed by yelps of pain.]
