I noticed that Wrong Planet, unlike most internet forums, doesn't allow uploading image files (or any other kinds of files). You can only add an image if you provide a URL to that image. I hate having to add a picture to Photobucket or my blog just so I can post it on Wrong Planet! Don't you think it would be a good idea if Alex allowed the uploading of files? I know viruses or other malware might pose a problem, but couldn't Wrong Planet just use powerful antivirus? Could the reason Wrong Planet doesn't allow uploading files be due to limited server memory space or limited server processing power? What are your thoughts on this?

I might be wrong here, but I think this has something to do with the WP software even before considering any actual server issues.

This forum uses software from the 90's (not literally, but I mean, look at it).

Also, a forum as big as this would run up a high enough hosting bill as it is without opening the gates to even more data to be stored, downloaded and uploaded.

I don't think you should be pushing extra costs (antivirus, etc) onto the site maintainer.

it easier for the forum to run this way, server space is limited and having to store other people pictures is not a priority.
