I am trying to become a fine artist. All my art is very good, I know this, and I have no problems with the technical part of the job, but I am really struggling to become known and make sales at this stage of my career. I have been invited to exhibit in various different places, but the difficult part is that once I am there I have to talk to people in order to get people to notice me or commission me. At my last exhibition, someone came up to me in the gallery and said "So are you one of the artists?" and I totally panicked because I didn't know her and I wanted to get out of the conversation. I said "No" without thinking and she walked away! Then I realised what I had said.
Does anyone know if there is some kind of social skills training or help available for adults with ASDs?
