I've lurked around these forums from time to time; today I've decided to join you all! I am pretty sure I have AS, and I'm going to see a psychologist in the next few days to get a professional opinion. A little about myself:

- I'm a 21 year-old-male.
- I'm a freshman in college, majoring in biology.
- I'm a bit of a recluse, but I really don't want to be! I just have a really hard time connecting to people...my emotions and social perceptions are very different. I'm working hard to fit in. Sometimes it gets very frustrating and I get hurt. I don't wanna be all alone!
- Even though I don't want to be a huge recluse, I still need a lot of time to myself. It seems I feel most comfortable and happy when I'm alone, but maybe there are people out there who I can really connect with? Who knows...
- There are a few things I am very interested in, to the point of obsession! I think about these topics incessantly: biology (especially neuroscience), philosophy, and psychology. I want to know the mechanics of everything going on around me! I see the world like a machine, and I want to examine each of its "cogs" and see what roles they play in the functions!

My own experience says the answer is yes--it just took me awhile to find those people.

We've got some interests in common. I majored in Psychobiology as an undergrad, and just got my grad degree in Applied Criminology. If you ever want to talk about the topics you mentioned, drop me a line.
