INTERNET FREEDOM IS UNDER ATTACK

Musicians Are Fighting Back and We Need Your Help Today – Watch My Washington DC Video

Congress is considering a law that would let companies like AT&T decide which Web sites open properly on your computer based on which sites pay the most. Giant corporations would take over the web, independent sites would be choked off, and the Internet as we know it would be gone.

We need to fight back now. On Thursday, May 18, I will be in Washington, D.C. to announce Artists and Musicians for Internet Freedom. We’re joining 650,000 other Americans who signed the SavetheInternet.com Coalition’s petition to Congress.

You can watch the video of my Washington, D.C. announcement. It will be posted Thursday, May 18 by 3:30pm EST. Click here:

As you watch the video, phone numbers for your congressional representatives will be on your computer screen. Please call them– that’s the best way to show Congress we’re serious.

The SavetheInternet.com Coalition includes such diverse groups as MoveOn.org, Gun Owners of America, Craig from Craigslist, consumer advocates, Internet advocates, church groups, and 600 others. Google, Amazon, and eBay are also fighting on our side. Now it’s your turn to step up to the plate.

Please watch the video and call Congress today. Thanks for helping us save the Internet.

The Internet has been under attack ever since Congress passed the Digital Software Copyright Act. The Internet will always be under attack as long as Orrin Hatch is in Congress.

Yeah! Big companies want to take over the Internet, and they have their hands in Congress. Hell, they control half or more of Congress.

Speaking in Washington may get the word out in public, which is a good thing, to rile up the people in general and launch a massive wave of protest. Congress, however, doesn't care about the people.

Why don't all the hackers of the world unite? We could disrupt these companies in a variety of ways!

yeah, I don't like the tiered internet idea.

Interestingly, BitTorrent inventor and fellow aspie has come out against net neutrality:

My question is has there ever truly been a neutral internet, the real answer is No and there never really be a truly neutral internet either in the end.

Kinda black and white -- wouldn't a more neutral neutral net be better than a less neutral one?

That maybe so that a more neutral would be better than not. But You have the human factor and it tells Me that it can not ever truly be as neutral as some may want it to be in the end.

There is lots of 'net outsides the states people. The tighter it gets within the states, the more activity will happen outside its borders.
