You're sure he's a troll? I tried to work it out earlier, but he seems to keep coming back. I am, I admit, terrible at sussing them out.

Oh and: I don't think he's all NTs. He's one NT. It is not easy for me to generalize like that. Even if I say "NTs say this thing that annoys me" I really mean more than a few specific NTs that have said that to me, and not all NTs in the world.

And to answer the OP's question, I think that people on the spectrum that I have met offer a pretty good representation of the full diversity of the human condition, with all of the emotions, personality types, strengths, weaknesses, joys, sorrows, likes, dislikes, introverts, extroverts, full range of IQs...everything. There are some pretty amazing people here, and yes...there are some trolls too. I believe it is wrong to generalize about people regardless of neurotype. Every human being is unique...no two are exactly alike, just like snowflakes.

Thanks but ignorance doesn't make someone a troll. Maybe he missed the whole point of this place.

I also think he is just one NT and not all NTs think that way. I think it's sad how one bad experience can make someone be so hatred towards others. Even if someone knows not all sorts of people are like that, it can still be hard to get rid of the negative thinking about that type of people because they continue generalizing or trash talking them acting like they are all the same. Or they continue to be afraid of them.

19jc69:

Most of the people here have autism or AS. This place is for where we come and connect but everyone is welcome, NTs, and other neurotypes like ADHD or non verbal learning disability or social anxiety or Bipolar and it's where anyone can join too to learn more about AS or get advice for their loved ones on the spectrum or children. Not where people can join and trash talk the condition as if this place isn't a forum for people on the spectrum to connect. Luckily this whole thing didn't turn into a flame fest or a very huge drama after you made that post.

I'm not positive, but:

- New user as of today
- 8 posts total, all in this one thread
- Bumped this thread from four months ago
- Posts contain inflammatory and offensive language IMHO
- Not even an introductory post like..."Hi, new here!"

I may be wrong and the person could be "innocent," but he still has no right to say the things he did. Anyway, I found the posts offensive and decided to speak up about it. Also, it gave me an opportunity to answer the OP's question.

Don't worry, I know too many nice NTs to think that they all think this of us. When I talked about people insulting me, I know that's just how some people think. I find it very hard, like Verdandi, to generalize things like this to all NTs or anything like that. I don't know what got me so upset earlier, I think I was just blindsided by what was going on. I also know that if he was for real, it is very hard for people who have to deal with certain kinds of offensiveness all the time, to sit down and describe to each person what they did wrong. So if I truly did something offensive, then I don't blame him for not wanting to explain further than "can't you see it's offensive"? Ironically I know that partly because it was so hard to sit down and explain to him why what he was saying was offensive. It takes a lot of mental and emotional energy to stand up to that kind of thing when that's the exact kind of thing that runs you down day in and day out. And I never even considered he might be a troll, or read the dates on the thread or anything. I am really bad at... the kind of thinking it takes to be suspicious about each person and stuff like that. So while obvious trolls I can sometimes spot, others... not so much. So I still can't make out whether he's real or not. But even if he is, I know exactly why when someone's done something offensive and doesn't get why, it can be emotionally exhausting to have to explain. I just wish (if he's real) that he could see how much effort I put into all that. i wasn't trying to have a go at him. I was just trying to say hey, you know what, we're people, and this isn't okay. To be thought incapable of love... just so dehumanizing. Sorry if I caused any trouble.

I don't think he was a troll. I think he was still hurt and found a place to vent this frustration.
It sounds like he understand that people with AS/autism can't help but think a certain way and is just fed up with it.
And it's ok. I know not all NT's are like that. It's hard though to find ones that aren't though. I have a few friends that are pretty open minded, the family not so much.

Anyway, let's get back on topic.

I would suggest to avoid further problems just pay attention to these words by the creator of the thread said in the first post:

You can't make a conclusion about ALL autistic people, but you can make conclusions on autistic people that you have encountered in your life.

I doubt there'd have been any trouble at all had that one been followed. Everyone knows that some autistic people can be jerks and probably wouldn't be offended if anyone just described the autistic people they knew as jerks without saying anything about the rest of us that they don't know.
