My son does this, he gets so upset that nothing i say to him will help, he then goes on to vomit and then the crying stops, just interested to know if this is a common thing?

I don't have kids but I know this happened to me all the time when I was younger. I just got past the level where I could handle what was happening. My mother just screamed at me and told me not to make a mess - so all I can say is that is not the right response!

Maybe get him to a safe place and let him calm down? I think if I had been allowed to calm down when it got that bad I may not have thrown up.

My daughter has always done this. It happens less now (but so do her meltdowns :D ). It was always difficult when she did it in the car because I had to pull over because she would often choke on the vomit. I am so glad these days are mostly behind us! Don't know the age of your son but I hope things improve for you as well. Best thing to do is to try to prevent the meltdowns as much as possible. Also, it is worth noting that my daughter has esophogeal erosion and I believe it was due to this so you need to be careful about rinsing his mouth and throat out as vomit is very erosive.

My son is 8 he doesnt do this as much as say a year or so ago but it still happens, when he does this he refuses to have a drink afterwards, that is something that has always bothered me, i had not thought that it could possibly cause damage i always tried to get him to drink because i know what its like after vomiting, i will now try that bit harder, thank you!

Yeah, my 8yr old daughter does that at times. Usually when I've put her in a timeout and she gets really mad and upset at me. Then she tells me it's my fault.

My son has never done this although some times I thought he was going to. I am an aspi too and never did. I can see it happening to anyone who gets as upset as ASPI's do though.
