I am interested why people take part in this community.
Do you make a lot of friends here?
Or is it about having a place to relate with other people?
Are you disappointed by your lack of success in connecting with other like-minded people?

I know I originally came here to learn more about aspergers and NVLD, but technically
I could have gotten just as much by passively reading about it without contributing.
So, I must be looking for some benefit by posting here. Attention? validation?
People to tell me how brilliant my posts are?
I am not really sure, but I keep coming back for more.

Why are you contributing here and are your expectations being met?
What would you like to see be different here if not?

:)

I gain a lot of support and an opportunity to do my own thing, where it is safe to do so. I have an opportunity to get to know the many different people who post here. I also gain the ability to gauge people. I get to have a feel of other people. I get to talk about my feelings, interests and experiences. I also have something to do and a site to visit, on the nights that I stay home. I come here for support and I come here to support my fellow members. I also come here to talk to others, about their interests. This is what I get out of WP. :D

However great or small the actual number might be, I have far more friends here than anywhere else. However, just being here where others at least understand and do not wrongly judge gives me good reason to get out of bed in the morning.

I like posting here because it gives me a chance to learn the spectrum, and get input and advice from others who struggle with similar if not the same things. I've come across a few pages where NT's are discussed and this helps me because I have never analyzed them to the perspectives discussed on this site. It helps me get a better understanding of reactions or emotions they have that I cant comprehend.

an outlet for my feelings and thoughts. IOW somebody to "talk" to. perhaps somebody will "listen" to me here and not judge me as wanting. virtual company. a sense of belonging. entertainment. education. being able to offer comfort to somebody else that won't [obviously] reject me out of hand. being understood and getting comfort from others who "get" me. thank god for WP and its enlightened creator.

I get to enjoy a rainbow of different personality types. That's what the coloured puzzle pieces are about. We're not puzzles, but we each add a colourful piece to the autistic community. :)

I think I know exactly what I can do with you.
Go to the off the wall area.

There's barely any limits there.

I seem to have made one friend here, which is infinitely more than I'd expected. I do not need attention or validation, but it is a nice novelty to be able to relate to the life experiences of others.

I post for a number of reasons. In no particular order: 1) Entertainment. 2) Maybe I can help someone. 3) Maybe someone can help me. 4) Examining things about myself closely enough to put them into words sometimes helps me gain insight into said things. 5) An effort to feel less alone.
